Okay I understand religion is important to the character, but is this a HP fic or an existential crisis from a man obviously over reliant on religion for maintaining his mental state? Now I understand the existence of God is important to him. But acting as if the world would end and if he found out it's all fake is insane to me. As an atheist, if I got proof God was real I'd just shrug and say "cool". Does he not realise you can't disprove God? The burden of proof isn't on wizards to disprove God, it's on religion to prove God exists, so what's there to worry about? It's not like facts have ever been a barrier. to entry for religion throughout history.
