I'm not mad at it, but I'm not a hundred percent sure you realized that was what the prank scene did to the mc. And there were already hints of it before. The orphanage woman was justified. She was bigoted towards a kid. It was a bit of a reach the he went for that option first, but whatever. The librarian... She accepted it and didn't mind, but he did try to blackmail her with a public shaming. And then this scene here really drives home the idea. Perceived slights which were really just an adult/teacher doing his job justify social and career consequences. Maybe even legal. His first go-to option is always "I'll destroy you" to shield himself from what would've only been minor consequences for a misbehaving child in the first place. And it's turning into cruelty with this latest scenario. He did it to someone who didn't deserve it. |
