Nice. Yeah, HIPAA laws are pretty draconian. That Nursing Assistant is going to have a lot of Instagram hits but no job at the very least. If my neighbor lived alone and had kids or dogs and was admitted to my hospital, legally I couldn't do anything or alert anyone because the enforcers can be pretty anal about that sort of thing. At worst we're talking prison time.
Something I haven't seen in fics dealing with Panacea, that I'm now wondering about. Nurses spend a good chunk (it may not be most but it's close) of their time documenting nowadays, sitting in front of computers dealing with the "paperwork" end of things. I have to wonder how much Panacea has to fill out between patients - that would be a major contrib to her depression/stress after all.

In the comics they generally don't pay attention to a lot of the little details in getting into and surviving in space. Then again, a lot of SF has the explosive decompression from a little hole in your ship - which is inaccurate and based on deepsea creatures exposed to sealevel pressures. The radiation is more a problem, as is heat. Without an atmosphere, sunward facings heat up a lot and the side away freezes due to the lack of insulating/heat distribution from the air. Little details like that escape the comic book writers for some reason. Hopefully Taylor has at least that much science in her background.

Seriously, what is it with fanfic writers who write Fox News as pro-Government, anti-rights, pro-Nazi, hating business, wants to physically chain and abuse women, pro-crime, as well as blithering idiots who rely on yelling at their guests for talking points? The same fics (as this one) then view NPR as completely unbiased, hard-hitting journalists with impeccable integrity. I just keep running into this viewpoint and it is a bit jarring. It's like the "X has money therefore is evil" trope where every owner of a family business on up has to be twirling their moustache and planning how to destroy others, where I keep finding it and end up puzzled as to why it's there. Personal views of the writer? Personal views of the writer whose work it is based on?
Usually my reviews/comments are focused on that particular story or arc and I try to be positive but I keep seeing this and just had to question that.

Funny thing... we use feet and inches for anything shorter than a kilometre because we sell most of our lumber to the U.S., so it's all cut to U.S. dimensions, so everything local that's related to construction is in feet and inches (eg. If your wood is measured in inches, you want the drywall and the screws in inches), so we wind up using them everywhere.

(We also use Fahrenheit for baking temperatures since it's cheaper to sell the same ovens in the U.S. and Canada and just print new English-French bilingual manuals for the Canadian market. Since we never need to convert between them and "real temperatures" we just sorta think of them as "oven units".)
