![]() ![]() ![]() And so the butterfly effect starts taking action, without Bronn there to win the duel Tyrion might not go free. Bronn should hopefully make for a competent right hand man though. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Our hero is probably wrong to underestimate the maesters, knowledge is power and their monopoly on it is nothing to scoff at. That said, if they survive the long night then there should be time to try and spread the education around. |
![]() ![]() ![]() These are each some fairly big gambles, but it's going to take more than some more guardsmen to save the world |
![]() ![]() ![]() So the big question of any SI fic is the "who to tell about the meta knowledge and when to tell them" thing, Will Ned Stark be one of them? |
![]() ![]() ![]() It also seems that the whole "middle manager" thing has left our hero well armed on the social skills front, an engineer might be theoretically able to manage an uplift but that wouldnt do them any good if they couldnt sell the ideas they develop |
![]() ![]() ![]() At least our hero should be much better prepared in the whole "math and literacy" area than canon edmure, at least, if he can read the language. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Our hero does have a point about the "at least it would be to hard to make things worse" thing, edmure is a good character to end up as when it comes to the low expectations thing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() really hope your not dead |
![]() ![]() ![]() great story hope you're not dead. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is a great story, though to be honest, if the North needs more men than what it currently has to defeat the Others, Westeros is kind of screwed. The Reach is done, and the Westerlands are all out of fighting men. By the time all the other claimants for the iron throne except Dany are done, Edmure’s fighting force will likely be depleted. Without Stannis assistance, the wildlings are liable to sack Castle Black and cross the wall before Robb gets there. With this story, we traded a screwed North and weak Riverlands in canon for a screwed Reach and weak Westerlands. More people probably died in this story actually than in canon what with the Reach replacing the Red Wedding. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is great, an interesting take and choice of character Will we be seeing more soon? |
![]() ![]() It would be interesting to see a POV from Doran, Oberyn, or Arianne when they are informed of Edmure's plans for backing Daenerys Targaryen! It's too bad that the deal with Kevan Lannister only just happened because they won't be informed both that Kevan, as Lord Paramount of the Westerlands, will also be supporting Daenerys and that the Mountain will face justice. I don't know if just the Riverlands' support will be enough for Doran to openly support Daenerys yet...with the Riverlands *and* the Westerlands might be a different story, especially if Edmure throws in revenge via Gregor Clegane (and Amory Lorch or is he already dead)? Also, Doran isn't an idiot...I think he'd very easily see that fAegon is not Elia's son. And that would anger him and Oberyn even more-that a stranger is coopting their sister's memory to gain power. Also, I don't want this to happen personally, but it would really serve Robb right if Melisandre *did* convince Stannis to burn Sansa alive for her king's blood. Honestly, what Catelyn told Edmure sounded wish-washy to me. Yes, Robb needs to defend the North, but they were RIGHT THERE. He is aware that Sansa will continue to be used against him for as long as she's in King's Landing, regardless of who is ruling, right? He could have sent some of his men North ahead of time to secure it and let the others stay a few weeks. It would be worth it if only to gain Sansa back so she can't be used as a hostage against him. |
![]() ![]() Kay, yeah, I totally agree that the North and Robb have no obligation to the Riverlands or Edmure. Even though it’s their fault that the Riverlands were being sieged in the first place...but that’s neither here nor there. What IS important is that even though Robb has no obligation to Edmure, he DOES have an obligation to his goddamn sister! I mean, fucking seriously? The Riverlands and Northern armies were RIGHT outside the fucking city were Sansa was being held hostage and it was the perfect opportunity to get his kidnapped sister back safely, if not because he loves her, then so she can’t be used against him in the future...seriously, did Robb just forget he HAS a sister?! Welp, when Edmure seeks out Daenerys and they conquer King’s Landing and free Sansa, I really hope she refuses to go North and see her so-called family. And if Robb has arranged a betrothal for her to gain alliances for HIMSELF, I hope Edmure and Daenerys back her up in refusing. Robb has washed his hands if Sansa and obviously feels no obligation to HER, so she then has no obligation to HIM. In short, fuck Robb. What an absolute stale ham sandwich of a brother. |
![]() ![]() I wonder what kind of nickname Edmure will get. In fact you should have given him one already, given everything he has accomplished. Having defeated Tywin in the field, inflicted heavy damage to the Stormland's army, slaughtered the Reach army, especially the use of the wildfire, Edmure must no doubt earned himself quite a fearsome reputation. I could totally see him being referred to as Red Ed or the Bloody Trout. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I feel like Edmure, and the other lords, would know of this thing called writing a letter when you need to deliver specific words, instead of having someone remember that on a months long journey? |
