scyfly chapter 7 . 5/27
if the ministry and the wizengamot didnt throw malfoy in azkaban for being a death eater they are hardly going to do it now because he can bribe them until he gets free again.

its a very childish view of the concept bribing. you cant shove gold in ppl their hands to look away for being a dark wizard and terrorist. they already have to be amoral or ignorant neither of which change after being caught red handed. obviously someone tried to frame malfoy or do you think they will admit he was in fact a death eater. sorry our bad
scyfly chapter 5 . 5/27
impressive manners for a wizard.

every single muggleborn would act like that towards goblins and if they were truly good little goblins they would take advantage of that with muggleborns to overthrow purebloods. but they dont, they simply hate everyone not goblin
scyfly chapter 4 . 5/27
this is so far heavily influenced by what direction you want to take this. information and knowledge that comes out of nowhere, 'cant cast the imperius yet' yes cause he already decided he is gonna cast it one day. pansy and harry also seem to be the same ppl, there is no difference between their behavior.

perhaps its just the start of the story...

i also dont like the planning sessions, i prefer the read about it when it is being executed and a little reminiscing about why not doing it in another way. that way you can focus on how ppl react to it and what it means for the story instead of what it might mean
candesce chapter 69 . 5/22
I think the beginning part of the story gave me the impression that Harry & Pansy were going to be significantly more competent and proactive than they have been. In several author notes you mentioned later parts of the story would be very AU due to all the changes made, but honestly it feels like you've tried to force the plot to stay in canon territory, first with the whole Triwizard graveyard thing and now with Umbridge. While there are obviously differences between canon and your take, they feel... superficial?

Harry's whole behavior 4th year felt off. Supposedly he was not fighting back against being forced into in order to keep up the advantage of somehow 'knowing' he was being forced? Except that never actually amounts to anything, and Igor as a Death Eater is a lame duck, accomplishing basically nothing. Taking him out like they did Parkinson or MacNair most likely would've avoided the graveyard altogether.

Now after Voldie is back, Harry spends the entire summer basically goofing off and doing nothing but suddenly trusting adults to be competent for once. This again, feels out of character and seems to only be there so the story can be dragged out and you can re-introduce Umbridge for 5th year so as to keep canon plotlines. Dumbledore losing his position and Fudge still being so powerful despite all the high profile death eaters already removed from the story makes little sense. There's been effectively zero repercussions to Lucius' death from a ministry perspective... which is bizarre. You haven't even backfilled the position of resident death eater politician.

It just feels like you weren't willing to follow the characters and plot you created, but wanted to try to stick to certain canon events, regardless of how events might play out. Which makes Harry and Pansy's earlier actions come across as lacking true impact. Which would've been fine, if it hadn't been for the start and all the author's notes setting different expectations for the rest of the fic.

Ya... I think after this chapter it's more clear to me that we have very different kinks. Between this, the post funeral episode and the whole Narcissa thing... It's just nope. Not my cup of tea. Their whole sex life just seems really unhealthy to me. Pansy definitely seems... damaged maybe? At the very least she seems to have some sort of reverse cuckold fetish. Feels like she's testing Harry and giving him lots of room to 'screw up' so she can then feel vindicated in her insecurities. I generally like the rest of the story, but this stuff just ends up pissing me off and making me really dislike Pansy. Moments like these make me feel like she absolutely doesn't deserve Harry.
candesce chapter 50 . 5/21
Gotta agree with CamTheThief. Harry feels very out of character this chapter. Feels like you gave him the idiot ball for a chapter to force the plot where you needed it to go. I get that Harry doesn't actually care what people think of him, but he hasn't been shy about calling out those blatantly abusing his image. He knew something would go wrong, probably could guess he'd be entered into the tournament and caves to Dumbledore's pressure anyway. And then once he's proven right, he goes meekly with barely a protest of his innocence. Doesn't even address it in the great hall, but allows others to push him into a private area to air what little grievances he has. This is basically straight canon-Harry here and it's not a good look. It's also somewhat bizarre how blind everyone is to the fact that you can apparently be entered into a magical contract against your will. Harry at least should pick up on the power of such a thing.
candesce chapter 32 . 5/20
I think it's seriously fucked up that Pansy practically beats Harry into submission about this whole 'seduce Narcissa' plan which he firmly believes is a bad idea and then HE'S the one apologizing for not fucking her 'the right way' including which sexual moves were off the table. At no point does Pansy apologize, the closest she gets is calling it 'a mistake'. Instead she abuses Harry's built in meekness and nobility to force him to grovel for acceptance. And at the end of this chapter we're supposed to somehow feel that their relationship is back on track. Pansy's the one that's now permanently put a chink in the armor of their relationship, not Harry. I get that this is supposed to be a more realistic take, but the whole way this got wrapped up leaves a poor taste in my mouth. I'm pretty sure they're going to go on to be fine, but that will only be because you the author don't see a problem with it and not because the actually dealt with their problems in a healthy way. Which again were entirely created by Pansy and no one else.

And since we're here anyway, I don't get why they're still secret lovers. I thought her family was the biggest issue and their all dead. Seems crazy to me to be secret lovers until literally all the other death eaters are gone. Unless they plan to keep doing this whole seduce married women thing, which will definitely cause me to drop the story. Just make it a harem instead of this cuckold shit.
Sonofjackson2k chapter 24 . 5/20
Dumbledore was a Pureblood I believe
candesce chapter 25 . 5/20
Ah, I see Pansy just hadn't learned the contraceptive charm yet, not that it doesn't exist. A little weird she didn't learn it before having sex for the first time, especially since it was planned so far in advance, but that makes more sense than it not existing at all.
candesce chapter 23 . 5/20
It's a bit strange that you've gone with a world in which the magicals don't have any form of birth control ("You'll have to pull out of me one of these days though," implies this at least)

While the more conservative society might imply that birth control was never really wanted or desired, I think the actual reality presented belies this initial take. Magicals live much longer than muggles, looking younger despite their advanced years. This indicates a much longer fertility window than muggles. And yet only the Weasleys have a lot of children. You could argue about the war and about inbreeding causing sterility, but ultimately I think the magical world would be a lot larger, with way larger families if all magicals had ~40 years to get pregnant and no ability to stop those pregnancies beyond 'pulling out'.

This is also ignoring the fact that witch's might want this ability and are fully trained and capable of inventing it themselves (and have been fully trained for hundreds of years). There's no real sexism present in the magical world at least in respect to capability (obviously marriage and inheritance is still patriarchal). Given the otherwise very advanced healing capability of magicals, stopping pregnancy should be trivial for them. Either by spell or potion. Possibly even their inbuilt magic could be used to suppress it as well as accidental magic is shown to heal injuries.
omh666 chapter 67 . 5/19
Just as a quick note on the trace. We're told that the trace is on the under age witches and wizards and it breaks on their 17th birthday. We're also told that it picks up the magic around them, not specifically done by them which is why it doesn't go off when Ginny steals her brother's wand to open the broom-shed to go flying as a kid. It doesn't count when an adult witch or wizard is nearby. This is shown later on when Mr. Weasley does magic to fix the fireplace and light it in the Dursley's house in the start of book 4. Or when Dumbledor casts spells in their house in book 6. But houseelf magic does set it off, assumedly because there's no adult witch or wizard around at the time.

I like this start
Aaran St. Vines chapter 19 . 4/16
Your view on why canon Snape is irredeemable aligns with half of the complete reason why I think naming Harry's son in canon Albus Severus is the most insulting thing in all seven books.
