Reviews for These Unfortunate Affairs |

![]() ![]() ![]() chapter 21st (by the way I have been waiting for nearly a year so thank you) The reference to the book Rebecca makes me weak on my knees. so subtle.. just like the faint parfume of you secret loved one as he/she carelessly strolls by you... I love it |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is a delightful story, I've really enjoyed it! Poor Darcy. |
![]() ![]() ![]() awww I really do like how you humanize the characters that are so often dismissed as self-involved (Mrs Bennet and Lydia so far), showing how they're not malicious and quite capable of kindness, without going out of character. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aww I'm rereading this and realized that I missed the lovely bit where Mrs Bennet apologizes to Elizabeth for her room being commandered for so long. That was a brilliant characterization, so concisely done! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I hope you intend to publish this one day but I must point out a blooper which I think stems from an unfamiliarity with period firearms. . 'if it wasn't a pistol it must have been a rifle' - an odd sort of conclusion to draw when rifles were rare things. Also the markings on a ball from rifling would be distinctive despite the leather patch to help to propel the rifle ball. It would be more natural to assume it was a musket than a rifle. Rifles were basically only owned by the Rifle Brigade, who were issued with the Baker Rifle, based on the Jaeger rifle. they were expensive pieces of kit. It might have been a fowling piece, which would have fired a ball larger than a pistol but smaller than a musket. |
![]() ![]() ![]() An interesting chapter. I look forward to more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for this story! When will Darcy finally try to woo his wife? I think it is high time he accepts invitation to balls and the like and start dancing with his wife, tell her how beautiful she is, take her to the theatre etc! |
![]() ![]() Sorry - unable to log in for some reason. Anyway, I feel rather sorry for you that you are having such problems with this story. Perhaps it is time to mark it complete. It can't be nice struggling with it and rather defeats the object of what should be, an enjoyable pastime. It is also a tad frustrating for your readers, although that is not the point of this review. Please think of an epilogue for this story and apply yourself to a story that DOES inspire your muse. I mean these comments kindly not meanly. |
![]() ![]() ![]() looking forward to more. hoping Elizabeth catches onto (or is blatantly told w/e lol) Darcy's feelings. would be nice to see them getting along romantically, not just platonically |
![]() ![]() ![]() Regardless of when your next update is posted, I will enjoy it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is marvelously funny! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for another update! I have homeschooled my children all of their lives, with the last one approaching high school next year, so I know how challenging it can be, yet the rewards have been so incredible for us! Just take it a day at a time and give yourself much grace in the process. As for our favorite sleuths in this story, I can see why it would be rather dull at Pemberley without cases to solve, but it is out of character for them to want to leave it. I do hope that Darcy will share his feelings toward Elizabeth soon, and in the process she will discover how much she truly esteems and loves him. We need to get them together soon to experience all the joys of marriage! It just seems that the arrangement they started with should have disintegrated by now after all they have gone through together. With her studying of anatomy, wouldn't Elizabeth's physical interest in Darcy be piqued by now?! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Fingers crossed. Yes indeed. Go do what you need to do for your family. I enjoyed this chapter but Pemberley is too serene for them? It seems that Pemberley would be too serene for Bingley and Jane. Especially Bingley. Are D&E going to go live at Darcy House in London? Isn't that what Darcy hates? And Bingley would love? I'm confused. Oh well, see you when you return. |
![]() ![]() ![]() That was fun to read. I just love the characters the way you portray! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Not too exciting for them. Darcy should try harder at the wooing. |
