It's almost disturbing how much you deviate from the original storyline/character development. That there is tension between Derek and Maggie here- yes- that was obvious. But the fight between the two one on one- and how ragingly hateful Derek became and blood spurting- ohhh that was wonderfully upsetting and a stab in the heart to all who support the Derek/Maggie ship. Which aren't THAT many- many wanted Brooklyn and Mags to get together and you satisfy that. Sevarius post-mortem summary of Derek's state of mind and how easy he would be to manipulate was on point. I love that they're trying to integrate Madison into the clan- that's bound to spark more conflict with Pride and Thailog and Xanatos.

I knew Anna would lose those babies. Something bad would happen, and cranley is put under house arrest more less.

Sucks.

But Lexington shined with that virus, and Xanatos may realize he's in over his head with the pride

Hey, I'm more a reader than a reviewer, but I'm loving your story here. Moreover, to me anyway, is that this feels like a real what if? type of storyline for Gargoyles. Anyways, keep up the good work, happy holidays 2024 if I don't write another review to you before 2025 and all that.

"Of course, lass," Hudson said.

"This Maza guy was pretty scary when I met him, but it sounds like he was used just like Radar used me. I was pretty convinced I had to be with Radar because no one would have me after becoming… this. But you guys reached out to me, and it's a whole different world to what I had before. I know it's not the same. You reached out to Derek and he lashed out at you, but I like to think people can do wrong, even bad stuff, but still not be just horrible. I'm sorry, I'm just rambling, aren't I?" Madison looked down.

Maggie walked over to her and reached out, almost touching the smaller Chimera's chin, prompting her to tilt her head up and let Maggie touch her chin, and delicately point her face up to hers.

"We Chimeras have been through a lot, haven't we?" Maggie said. "Until you came along, I was getting used to seeing all others of my kind as enemies." She looked back to the others. "I think we should go with Lexington's plan. I'm not sure it's what Goliath would want, but I don't think we can fully trust them just yet. But it would be even worse to just give them half-heated aid after wanting just this to happen."

"Well, if Lex doesn't mind leasing out his project, I don't see any problem," Broadway said, shrugging.

"I'm with you," Brooklyn said to Maggie.

"Do they have a television down there? They'll be needing that," Hudson mused.

Madison smiled, and Maggie patted her head, returning it.

The blonde smiled at him, while the dark-haired one glared.

"We had no right to admit anyone. Oberon commanded us to guard the way, to guard Avalon in his absence."

"Guard, not bar, perhaps? A guard does not just ward away intruders, they also open the way in peace. Perhaps your father wanted you to understand the spirit behind his laws rather than just blind obedience when he set you your task." Goliath pressed. "So, is that all? It tells me a bit of you and Oberon, and your motivation. But there's more, isn't there? You claim now to have helped me, even as you sought revenge on Magus. Yet you act as if you are pleased Magus died in peace?"

"The time is not yet for more answers," they said together, returning to identical expressions.

Goliath frowned, but guessed he would get no more answers from them. "The clan here has no love for you. Magus was one of them; if I ask them to lock you away, you will remain bound for ages."

"You know well that even bound, our kind are perilous."

"Such coldness is not in your nature, even to your enemies."

"What is time to an immortal?"

"I am willing to free you with conditions," Goliath admitted.

"Hmm, a skinny one you brought us, Maggie. If we were the monsters the rumors say, I'd be annoyed at what a lousy meal she'd make," Hudson joked, catching the girl's eye.

"I'd say, Broadway could eat her up himself and still want Chinese food," Lex quipped.

"Now don't be hasty, maybe a side of fries, a bottle of ketchup."

"Don't be absurd, she's clearly meant for mustard," Broadway took part after affecting offense for a moment. The girl's eyes went wide, but looking to Maggie she saw the Chimera woman roll her eyes, and any lingering fear seemed to slip away as the girl giggled into her hand.

"Yeah, sounds good," Maggie gulped, licking her lips. Brooklyn made his way to the stairs then stopped after a few steps upward.

"By the way, I like the new jewelry. You look real pretty with it. Not that you weren't pretty before, but well… I'm going to go get ready for dawn," Brooklyn said, before beating a hasty retreat up the stairs. Maggie laughed a little under her breath and adjusted her circlet. Then the lion woman thoughtfully picked up a clean plate and looked at her reflection in the ceramic, thoughtfully brushing at her mane idly with her claws.

After a brief struggle and the sound of tearing cloth, the naked lynx Chimera raced down the corridor on all fours, slipping in the turn to smack against the wall before disappearing around the corner.

Breathing hard, Anna smiled, opening her fists and letting the pieces of the Doc's leotard fall to the floor. Catching her breath, she turned her face to the security camera and gave it a two-fingered salute.
