I feel like the use of curses to fight curses is the logical continuation of the extremely late healer and evil firefighter memes, and I love it. I wonder if the object would be a romantic cliche like a wedding ring or a fobwatch with a black and white picture of Buffy, or more embarrassing like a buttplug, or a "Hello, My name is Angle" badge, with "Angel" misspelled in crayon.
I'm really digging the fact that this end of the world setting is turning into an end of the world roleplay with every chapter.

Oh no, the world is overrun with monsters, things will never be the same again. We'll have to shelter in place and rebuild civilization. But tons of people survived and continue American society, our enemies are easily dealt with, and if we run out of booze we'll just pop over to the store real quick. Grimdark dystopian stories really are just boring in comparison.

Buffy gets, quietly, called on her Valley-Girl'esk Cliche'd Cliff Notes study habits .. maybe catching her in a headdesking rhythm later after she realized that she didn't need to diet 'to keep her figure' but with being a Slayer and the metabolism they have, she was running at a little above starvation level... ;)
Ah! A bit of Xander Reasoning leaking over from the Aegis timeline about nailing Angel's Soul in place .. maybe Giles and Westley (with Mal helping/reading-research, as sailers can be/are superstitious at some level) figure out a rune sequence for a ring that suppresses Angelis jabbering constantly in the back of Liam's head...
I was going to guess that Old Man Russel was quietly long lived (think Howard Families or Vandal Savage) and was aboard as "David" .. but we'll see, as the yacht name leans that way... :D

I still want to see Betty Chase calling Catherine Langford (see an earlier Review) to both check on her, and pass on that the cause of the Zombie Apocalypse was because someone stole The Orb of Infinity .. and that she got the info from her Granddaughters ex-boyfriend, who's been fighting things that go bump in the night for the last 2-3 years... Oh, and Catherine is in a meeting with General Hammond and SG-1 when she gets the call... ;)

There's still going to be a surge of starving vampires in a week or three, many of which, are NOT going to be smart enough to realize that they can sustain themselves on Animal Blood, not just Human Blood...

One puzzle I'm wondering about, with the mayor pulling a sleeping beauty as Xander posited, is Sunnydale syndrome in a lull? Or was it population based?

Because Sunnydale's population dropping almost seemed like a safety valve in the series, like if it went under a certain number, people got the vibe to get out of town.

I hoped this would continue at some point.
