That was the best fanfiction I’ve ever seen on this app!

Whoa, okay. Okay, yeah, that was good.
I don't really have any criticisms to make here. This alternate take does what it set out to do: reimagine the Qibli/Darkstalker scene so that it leads to a peaceful resolution that doesn't involve Darkstalker ceasing to exist. And it does so in a very believable, heartfelt manner. Quite the accomplishment, if you ask me. No wonder you are so proud of it. Great work, man; great work.

Wow. This was amazing. It was emotional. It’s just.. perfect. I don’t know to describe it. It’s just is.

*Note: this is my second time reviewing a fanfic. My apologies if it isn't clear enough.
When I first started Wings of Fire, I wasn't much of a critical reader. Subtle things like pacing and character development were, honestly, to my mind, nonexistent. Thus, when I read Darkness of Dragons, and the scene with Darkstalker and the strawberry, I just did what I always did: accepted how the story was written, notice how cool the series was, and kept reading. At the time, I also thought it was poetic justice, having Darkstalker be defeated by his own powers.
But some years later I heard some critics talking about the whole 'You're told through the whole second arc that changing people's minds with magic is bad and wrong, but then the good guys change the bad guy's mind with magic and now it's okay?'
(In retrospect, there are some ethical questions.)
There are probably many people who disliked Darkstalker's defeat, and tried to write their own endings, but not many — and I'm including myself — came up with something like this. It is very good, and I am impressed by this piece of writing.
Anyway, as this is a free country, you are welcome to disagree. I really enjoyed reading this, as the author does a good job of writing the characters like Tui. T. Sutherland did; there's no awkwardness, like someone does something they wouldn't normally do in the official series, and it makes sense.
In other words, good job, ArbitraryRenaissance.

Just wow. I always was dissatisfied with how they ended Darkstalker’s character. This is all I was looking for is DoD and more. I’ve always felt a little bad, less for his specifically, and more of just how his life turned out. While his actions were awful, I can’t help but feel sympathy for him. This rewrite gave me a satisfying ending that I could totally get behind, as character growth is probably my favorite thing to read. I love how you used Darkstalker’s anger to make him realize that he, while not being an inherently evil dragon, was the bad guy. It flowed very well from, “I want to make you an animus so we can rule together!” To “What can I do to help heal my soul?” Thank you for writing this, it was an absolute joy to read!

I can't even express with words how perfect this is. Astonishing, extraordinary, unimaginable, phenomenal, any and all of these words qualify. I thought so much about how to fix the ending in Darkness Of Dragons and came up with dozens of better alternatives... but none as satisfying as this masterpiece. It perfectly wraps up Qibli's super complex character arc (admitting to himself that animus magic would have ruined him and that he's better off without it), snd it gives Darkstalker potentially the most fitting conclusion to his villainy (surrendering his powers and accepting arrest for a hope of redemption). Both of which were done poorly in the original version by Tui. And on top of all that, it stays on course with everything that happens before and after this in the rest of the story. I never could have imagined an ending this fulfilling to my desires, and I am so glad I found this. Thank you so much for writing this. This is going to be how I remember Arc 2 ending from now on!

My god why couldn’t this have been canon

My name says it all..,

*clap clap clap* that was lovely. And a fic where where I can actually-somewhat-empathise with Darkstalker and where I don't hate him! (And I don't use the word "hate" sparingly)
Now if only there was something showing that this end made Winter happy as well and this would take it's place as one of the best one shots I've read; by making me not hate the character I hate most!

This is honestly such a wonderful conclusion to Darkstalker's character arc, that he chose to do this instead of having a strawberry chucked down his throat.

This was really good! I especially appreciate how you mimicked the Wings of Fire style. It honestly felt like reading one of the books! Great job!
