I do truly hope this gets picked up again though unlikely. This ranks among the best fan works I have read.

This story is absolute perfection, a seamless blend between these two worlds in a perfect balance. The story is nothing short of beautiful and it all flows naturally, the characters and their interactions feel real and well thought out, they feel natural as though they are real people.

The way you've made Johan is usually the biggest factor that sets a good skyrim fic apart from others, he has all of this power and knowledge but isn't the central figure of this story, you know when to show off his power and when to highlight that he isn't without fear (not for himself but others), and his compassion through his protectiveness of his protegés.

To make the dragonborn a proper character, give them an identity is often a struggle considering the overall diversity of their arsenal, history and accomplishments seen in game. The possibilities are endless and so confining that to one proper entity and making them interact with another world entirely is always interesting as with all crossovers. The way you've fused the two worlds really is nothing to smirk at and you should be proud for it.

Louise's development has been wonderful to see as well, lead by Johan into a world she never thought to care for, shocked by the experiences and revelations he brings to her and those she finds herself.

This story has left little to be desired other than that of more chapters, but alas such a thing seems improbable at this point.

This has been one of my favourite fics I've read in a while and is the first I've ever properly written about and so if ever you find yourself reading it I want you to know I am grateful for the journey you've taken me on, short lived as it may be it was wonderful.

I wish you nothing but the best.
Sincerely,

A happy reader.

apparently brimir only genocided the elves because they were trying to genocide the humans or force them out of the "holy land."

elves are usually actually pretty fucked up when it comes to other races in fantasy. a very long lived race that looks down on other races for being lesser in their eyes.

dwarves tend to be the cool ones. only caring about mining and smithing. and only hating elves cause they look down on everyone else.

sasha being the first familiar doesn't mean she was a slave lol. the collar around her neck isn't a slave collar. it's literally just a necklace.

Saito wasn't a slave either. louise just treated him like shit. even the other nobles were like what the fuck is wrong with this girl.

the familiar pact doesn't work like that on humanoids. when it comes to other creatures it makes them like their masters. but it doesn't punish them or do anything else. or force them to do anything.

when it comes to the humanoids. it basically just makes them forget about leaving. like. it stopped saito from being homesick. we see this at one point. because saito gets freed from the contract. and freaks out because he suddenly remembers he had a family, and why hasn't he wanted to go back to his family!?

and it probably made him put up with more shit than a normal person would. although it could have just been the fact that he was literally trapped in another world. surrounded by possible enemies. and it was just safer to stick with the pint sized tsundere.

because you know. being out in the cold. no food and place to call home would maybe be worse. than being some girls servant.

which that's basically what he was.

but. he wasn't trapped there. he wasn't bound to her in a slavery pact. neither was sasha. otherwise she wouldn't have been able to kill him. that's pretty obvious.

... That's not how that works at all lol. I thought you at least played Skyrim. there are plenty of examples of permanent enchantments in elder scrolls.

specifically permanent enchantments are enchantments that dont expend energy. like. If you enchant a sword to shoot out spells, then eventually it runs out of magic.

but if you enchant something with a self contained enchantment. like water breathing on a helm. poison immunity on a ring. or gauntlets that make you better at smithing. to name a few. they never run out. because it's not shooting the magic out.

then there's the fact that lore wise. In pretty much every magical fictional universe. mana is this energy that is usually just hanging out in the air.

and it's pretty basic logic that the mana can just be taken from the environment to power the enchantment.

basically void magic is in a separate category of magic than elemental magic. so when it comes to non void mages even if they start off being good with one element, they can train to do all of them if they work hard enough. or have enough talent.

but void magic is completely different from the other elements. so. void mages find it impossible to learn the other elements. as far as i know. even brimir himself. a magical genius researcher was only able to do void.

which is why he used familiars. void uses really long incantations. so it leaves the mage open in battle.

i definitely like this more than canon though. it's kind of stupid that void mages can't use other types of magic. oh you can blow up a mountain but can't light a campfire lol.

i prefer to think of it as having too much power. than them not being able to use any other element no matter how hard they work. especially since any other type of mage can theoretically learn all the elements.

although there is the thing about there only being up to four void mages at any one time. because brimir split up void and passed it down through four bloodlines. it's fundamentally different from the other elements.

one way to confirm this would have been to figure out if josette, Tabitha's twin sister had elemental magic before getting void magic. but I mean. probably not. she didn't go to the academy.

but was that because she just straight up didn't have magic, or for other reason. impossible to find out. cause there's not much about her at all.

Etokaiten chapter 30 . 3/29/2024
Louise and siesta almost always have a close relationship in fanfiction when Saito isn't center stage to enact harem nonsense. Don't feel bad or surprised, it's basically expected. That being said, I'd guess this story is a done deal since the last update was july, 2022. It was a nice read though.
