| Aramitz chapter 23 . 8/18
Your characterization is so accurate it's painful that this isn't canon.
| Greenlips24 chapter 24 . 8/18
Great couple of chapters! There are always consequences when Aramis's advice is ignored! Now I can stop wracking my brain as to the R-I-C clue, lol.
| MusketeerAdventure chapter 23 . 8/18
This chapter was wonderful! The 'what if' of the conversation here was nicely done.
| Buckeye01 chapter 24 . 8/16
Poor Aramis! I certainly can't blame him for his frustration with the stubborn Athos.
| pallysd'Artagnan chapter 24 . 8/16
Oh myy our scolwing swordsman had a bad time during his chat with hoser twat.. Thankfully Treville and the boys were there to aid him quickley,, giggling everyone trying to get him to eat.. OMGGGG plot twist R.I.C isednt who we thought!
| Helensg chapter 24 . 8/16
I sometimes wish I could be a person who simply eats to live not vice versa...lol.
I had the image of a lickle Athos sitting in bed with his arms folded and a pouting lip during this chapter,it made me giggle.
| Mountain Cat chapter 24 . 8/16
Well, Well, Well. So now they have identified a possible "R I C." Will that knowledge get them anywhere?
| beeblegirl chapter 24 . 8/16
I’m so happy that you posted this next chapter so quickly. After the last chapter this was a little lighter in spirit, I knew Aramis would be angry and he even vented his anger towards Tréville, who was after all to blame for Athos’ collapse yesterday. When will Louis realise that his Musketeers place themselves in jeopardy every day to achieve his bidding! Loved Tréville “ordering” Athos to eat. Now they have a name that fits the cryptic ‘bloody’ clue, R-I-C. What will they do with the information?
| Pippa19 chapter 23 . 8/14
Oh no poor Athos, he has passed out. Hope he hasn't made things worse for himself.
| Helensg chapter 23 . 8/14
I’ve just read both the last two chapters as I was in holiday in Sussex with no WiFi when you posted the first.
There were so many parallels with Athos’s & Loret’s stories that it actually made for uncomfortable reading as did Loret’s much deserved hero course Athos would consider what he did the action of a coward as he probably believes that he’s not I’ll either...his own worst enemy as usual.
I’d imagine Aramis is going to be more than a little angry.
Hope you’re well & looking forward to your big adventure

Firstly I have to say that I love a longer chapter, for me it gives more meat on the bones, so thank you for this longer one. Loret is undoubtedly so in awe of Athos and we all know that Athos is self loathing and would be uncomfortable with the hero worship but he dealt with it fairly graciously all things considered. Will Loret ever get the opportunity to identify the woman and testify against her? Hmmm, somehow I think not! Athos has obviously set his recovery back a step, Tréville is going to blame himself and probably Aramis will blame both of them! I am so loving this story, and can’t wait for the next chapter. You are a brilliant story teller V.
| Anny B chapter 23 . 8/14
Very emotional chapter! What I found interesting is that Athos could have easily become Loret. The repercussion's of the death of Loret's friend, his disability, hunger, and desire to live influenced life sees before him a reflection for what he could have become, if not for Treville, if not for his brothers, the Musketeers. He chose the possibility of death rather than watch Porthos die, Aramis suffer. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). Beautiful, the love between these men runs deep. I enjoyed the dialogue between Athos and Loret. It reveals how each man perceives the other, and how this perception changes in the course of the conversation. Athos restores honour to Loret. Maybe he is Loret's salvation, as Treville was his.
| Kirasum chapter 23 . 8/14
This is another masterpiece of yours! Well done! I enjoyed reading this talk. Author's thoughts and the ending. I could picture them while you did not even mentioned their names. Xxx
| Buckeye01 chapter 23 . 8/13
I just love it when Athos speaks his mind; it is so rare, after all. But, wow, even talking with Loret he can't accept that man's respect and feels so undeserving. Typical Athos.
But then, of all things, Athos is NOT a coward. **sigh**
Excellent chapter, my friend!
| Mountain Cat chapter 23 . 8/13
In meeting Loret, Athos is looking into a mirror - a distorted mirror, but still a mirror. "There but for the grace of God, go I." God does work in mysterious way.
