Noticed you dipped in pretty heavily with the English slang this chapter, some of which were completely unfamiliar to me. It caused an amount of cognitive dissonance as I was now suddenly imaging everyone with English accents while talking about sake. I've always noticed a bit of it here and there previously, but it seems you really lost yourself in it this time. Wonder why that was?

Can't say I'm big on the reincarnation theory, but that's more because I don't like the concept of reincarnation in general. I like being unique, sue me. You're story though, and it does mesh in well with the show's present lore.

Surging airbenders though, you say... I wonder if any of them survived long enough to have descendents of their own. Guess I'll have to read and find out!

What an end to this book. Heck, even with humor, it doesn’t take away the weight of the situation.

You really do write Azula so well. She's dramatic in the sense that she likes to parade her victories, but she's also incredibly calculating and intelligent. You get the softer, more vulnerable part of her as well. I like how even when she's feeling concern, she tells herself she isn't (because those feelings would be considered weak).

I love the fact that Toph calls Hakoda "Daddy Muscles". That is so Toph.

Yes, Hakoda and Bato would be much less concerned with sparing lives when it would only mean putting themselves in danger.

"the wrong sort of praise" is such a powerful line because it sums up how aware Azula is of the precariousness of her situation. Her father favours her, but he would also deal with her swiftly if she became a threat (and she knows that). It's not a stable home or relationship. It's also tragic when you consider she's intentionally setting up Zuko to be her 'fall guy', because that's the only way she knows how to work with her brother now.

Poor Katara. I feel for her having to be told they can't go back to Zuko, especially after she was barely reunited with him.

I can't help but smile at how Azula would have actually reacted had Zuko offered her an air trophy, lol. But of course she gets her way in the end because she really hadn't given Zuko a choice.

Well, I'm very curious to see how things are going to go down in your version of book 3.

Thanks to the fic "Once Around the Sun" I've become an Azula stan, so I'm really enjoying her POV here. Especially her thoughts towards Zuko and her unreliable narrator status; you can really tell she's lying to herself and it's pulled off super well. Wanting a buffer between herself and Ozai is a really good reason to bring him back, I'm glad he'll get the chance for all the important moments he has in the Fire Nation in Book 3 without having to actually betray the Gaang.
But oh HECK if Maiko tries to happen i'm gonig to scream and probably cry oh no it's gonna be so awkward
Sokka's humor and the "delectable snack" comment slayed me xD
At least Zuko knows Katara got away, but dang, Katara is going to be worried out of her mind about Zuko. AGAIN. THIS GIRL NEEDS A BREAK DANG IT OH MAN
