Arashi Uzukaze chapter 1 . 11/29/2024 Titanium AA? Lol you know the Titanium A means Titanium Alloy right? So does the AA stand for Alloy Alloy? Why not just call it Titanium A2? Sounds way cooler too. |
A Sole Reviewer chapter 13 . 11/22/2024 hey, hope you're doing well. i just wanted to say that your story is absolutely incredible. the charactersfaction, the battle, and politics is just fantastic. my favorite part of the story is the politics because you get the full picture of tensions. its just a good story. It's dark, gritty and realistic. Hopefully you continue working om this story but if not, no worries. Life happens |
Lyric Drake 591 chapter 13 . 9/30/2024 Damn I was hoping for a super long term book. Sad that this got dropped instead of evolving into a separate sequel. |
taintedahab chapter 13 . 9/21/2024 It’s a damn shame this story died, you’ve built a unique and interesting universe |
Neon chapter 11 . 8/18/2024 I for one have sympathies for the Quarians and hope that they get taken under the proverbial wing of the Federation and find a home to settle with the UNSC. |
Zane Tam chapter 13 . 8/17/2024 Sigh. Another one Kicks the Bucket. |
Guest chapter 13 . 2/22/2024 Rip good story |
ayab chapter 7 . 1/6/2024 RENDANG IS INDONESIAN! Jk Bur seriously though its ours |
WirelessDown chapter 6 . 12/1/2023 Space battles are staged rather stupidly. You simply removed the logic of differences in the power of the universes from your battles. To penetrate the armor of a 2-kilometer-long Covenant cruiser, Preston Cole needed 40 (!) ships working together, about half of which were Marathon-class cruisers or something similar, whose firepower was at least several times greater than that of a frigate. So, the lowest MAC power is 64 kilotons with a projectile mass of 600 tons and a speed of 30 km/s. Please note that this is a frigate focused on supporting ground forces and fleets, and not on independent space combat. And the strongest MAC is the SMAC, which has the largest UNSC ships and orbital defense platforms. The weight of their projectiles is 3000 tons, and the projectile speed is 12,000 km/s. Accordingly, we have a lower and upper limit on the power of the MAC guns that the UNSC has. At the same time, the most powerful Mass Effect cannon fires a 20 kg projectile at a speed of 4025 km/s, which allows for 38 kilotons, but let this be equal for all dreadnoughts. Again, this is the most powerful weapon in Mass Effect that is installed on Ascension of Destiny. Now let's compare. 1) If we take the lower/upper limit of power, flight speed and mass of projectiles, then the UNSC undoubtedly wins, because their battlecruisers can easily accelerate projectiles to velocities twice that of the most powerful Mass Effect guns, meaning that the effective range of UNSC ships of similar size is greater. The first common mistake of any xover Halo/ME. 2) It’s not just that I mentioned that Cole needed 40 ships for 1 Covenant cruiser and at the same time he lost 13 ships. He needed 40 ships, each with at least a main gun firepower nearly twice that of the Citadel's dreadnought's main gun. Now for a little math. Athena had 20 ships versus 680. 680/2034. 34 Citadel ships for every Athena ship. Now we should calculate what minimum damage these 34 ships must do to remove the shield from the battlecruiser, which is supposedly equal to the shield of the Covenant cruiser Cole fought. 64 kilotons (minimum damage for a Halo light frigate's main gun) 40 (of which half are cruisers with supposedly much more powerful guns, but we don't know those powers, so we'll take the minimum) 2560 kilotons. I repeat, the Citadel's 34 ships would need to deal at least 2,560 kilotons of damage to even be able to penetrate the cruiser's shields. 2560/3867. The Citadel will need 67 dreadnoughts for this purpose. Turians have only 37 of them. Actually, the only thing that slightly improved the situation for the turians was their numbers. But again, superiority in firepower, defense and the ability to micro-jump with impunity and wreak havoc on the enemy comes into play. Your Athena acted foolishly by choosing to fight head-on rather than resorting to hit-and-run tactics. And further. If your technology has advanced to the same level as the technology used in UNSC Infinity, then Slipspace will be much faster than any Mass Effect Relay, and it will also allow you to move without fear of any obstacles that may certainly get in your way in real space. And at speeds above light, a collision with even a small random meteorite will be fatal. The Infinity departed Requiem (July 23), and less than two days later it was off Earth as part of the defense fleet and took part in the battle with the Didact (July 24). In fact, less than a day, most likely the “Infinity” was on its way for maybe half a day, but let’s take a conventional day. The distance between the Sun and Requiem is 7230 light years. 7230/17320 light years per day. It should be taken into account that the Mentor made a detour to the Ivanoff station and reached the sun in just a couple of hours, and the slipspace engines of the Mantle Approach were very similar to the engines of Infinity. That is, it is likely that the speed of “Infinity” can exceed 7230 light years per day, because it could arrive to Earth on the same July 23rd, it’s just that the exact time of its arrival is kept silent, however, the speed of the Mentor’s ship speaks for itself. Thousands of light years in a couple of hours. |
worom001 chapter 6 . 8/21/2023 Hold on a min. You mean almost 50 or 60 years have passed, and you ain't figured out plasma weaponry yet? Even with so many covvie artefacts and weapons to look at? |
Roko chapter 13 . 6/15/2023 More soon? |
Guest chapter 1 . 4/16/2023 I always wonder why people say such stuff in reviews, enjoy the book or don't, if ya don't enjoy it then just go away. |
naotw chapter 1 . 2/12/2023 "Unggoy, Mgalekgolo, Huragok..." unggoy choose to stay with the species that mistreated them for the past 200 years and burned their homeworld over going back to Balaho and fixing themselves? Mgalekgolo is a hunter. Species is Lekgolo, they're isolationist, would go back to Te. Huragok don't have such inclinations, other than liking reclaimers. They follow the machinery. ..."Human Federation.." why the change? "respects the colonies..." UEG didn't deny claims till after things started blowing up. UNSC wouldn't agree to that, colonies are more important than ever and having to negotiate for resources, form governments and restructure other things would take too long to make it an effective military. Such governing changes would take years to finish. "Commodore Veronica Dare..." what changed to make it not Osman, her student? "purge of ONI.." that'd take years to decades to accomplish, making it impossible as she'd be likely assassinated before then. "..all come to recognize..." unilateral views are near impossible among civilians. That info. would kill the UNSC as a whole, inciting new rebel sympathies as its admiralty greenlit the projects; the 2 for crushing rebels not fighting covenant, and the 3 by essentially kidnapping orphans. "...given consent." isn't the UNSC's consent age 18? "Covenant techno..." it'd take years to study, test, then implement. Not under 2. "plasma projectors..." moreso this. PMAC; no benefit. Plasma'd cool and disperse the moment it left the barrel. "Union technology ...effective range..." if it wasn't reactor technology, it wouldn't. "...of being pure weapons.." colony ships, not warships. "..honorable retirement.." wouldn't mesh in with civilian society. Were made to be soldiers first and only. True Intentions; at that moment, SoF's at the ark. "promoted to.." he'd reject it like he did all prior offers. "..in turn informs the Union..." dubious. "ancient Human.." forerunners wouldn't occupy it, most were too arrogant back then. They'd have destroyed it upon flood invasion, even the flood would, just to kill them. Doisac; that's a powder keg. "..and Reach" it's glassed and still being fixed. "Eridani class..." not the strident with similar roles? "Warhammer.." light destroyer role's the same as heavy frigate in post war. Class'd likely be retired. "8 metes.." mass of armor increases by 21(new armor) to 64x(same armor). Unless power improvements upscaled more than this, it'd be SLOW. light cruisers; phased out pre-war. "Keyes Class..." super heavy cruisers were replaced by battleships, that did what the Poseidon in story does. "much larger..." reason? Ship sizes didn't increase by much. battle-cruiser role is similar to heavy cruiser. dreadnought role's similar to carrier, going by UNSC carrier conventions. "surpasses the number of.." did they de-glass all the lost and partially lost ones? Gobi; destroyer power's a bit much, it's not meant to fight. "20km long.."relays're 15km long. good intro, good background. Significant lore liberties. |
Guest chapter 6 . 1/21/2023 I highly doubt that repeaters actually have speeds that would be mind-boggling. There are engines of Infinity, which the devil knows what speed they have, but enough to fly to Requiem literally in one day, which is also not close and there are definitely a couple of thousand light years there, make an emergency landing and fall back to earth on the same day. And there are Spreadtech engines that can travel over 250,000 light years in 24 days (according to canon). That's over 10,000 light years per day. And I do not think that this is the speed limit, since no one has given us specific numbers. By the way, the ships of the Covenant have a speed in the region of 1350 light years per day. Moreover, why should the UNSC be surprised by a high-tech slingshot? She can only send ships in one direction, not in any direction, and has a strict drop point for ships. That is, if the repeater moves 1000 light years, then you cannot just stop somewhere between 500-600, but fly the entire 1000 light years. An extremely inconvenient alternative to the slip space engine. |
valkrus chapter 13 . 12/17/2022 well to be fair in canon humans are the only ones with the concept of the carrier and I don't think you clarify that your fic will go against that canon concept so can you really blame us |
