What could possibly have been the reason to force Harry into Gryffindor? He’s very different from canon Harry Potter, has more confidence and magical ability, as well as the willingness to use the intelligence that was hinted at in the first books, which detailed his muggle schooling and his good grades as well as him limiting himself so he wouldn’t be punished for being better than Dudley.

He has more confidence, so why was he having an issue with going to Ravenclaw? You mentioned him being worried about losing Hermione’s friendship but that’s incredibly shallow, his confidence issues were already stated to be dealt with in earlier chapters.

If he couldn’t trust Hermione to not end their friendship just because of a difference in their House Sorting with how long he’s known her then I don’t even know what to think. Clearly this was forced beyond reason. Possibly only so you could have Neville replace Ron in the golden trio, which wouldn’t even be necessary if you had just sorted Hermione and Harry into Ravenclaw where they SHOULD have been.

I liked roughly the first third quite a bit. I thought the remainder had it's ups and downs. I think that's because the strength of the story to me was when the focus was on the change in Harry's relationship with the Dursleys. I believe the strength of the Hogwarts chapters was Dumbledore trying to figure out how to deal with the uncontrollable Potters.
I appreciate that you were able to complete it considering your later A/Ns indicated that you were struggling with plot ideas at times.

Running makes ones determination rise...? I’m sorry, what? Determination for what exactly?

I get you’re trying to specify benefits to a fantasy concept, like magical core strengthening by running, but this is a little ridiculous, no? Running in general does not make anyone’s determination rise, because running is just running.

You can have determination to be healthy and therefore run, your determination rising by seeing results in increased health, but that’s really all it should be. You can’t have determination if there is nothing you want. You can run just to run, because you like it, but that does not at all have to do with determination.

I’m starting to think this story isn’t for me. I’m not even a tenth of the way through the first chapter and I’m seeing enough issues to make two lengthy reviews. I’ll at least read 6 chapters, but I don’t have my fingers crossed anymore.

For a book that is teaching children how to find their cores it focuses a lot on just boys. I’m already seeing some issues with grammar here as well.

If you generalize the topic to be for children, then just talking about the male gender is a little weird. This isn’t me being a Karen either, it’s just not how it’s done. Instead of saying things like himself, him, boy, etc... you just say them, themselves, etc.. because the topic is for both genders, and not just males.

A direct quote from the story is, “Some example may be: the child finds HIMSELF without ever going there.”, and you repeatedly specify just the male gender in a topic which has to deal with both genders and not just one or the other afterwards as well.

It stuck out to me pretty easily, one of the things I’m learning in marketing is how to appeal to as many people as possible, no matter the gender or race, and no matter if someone has mental or physical disabilities. So this may not be much of an issue for other people, but seeing a book having been published and sold with such issues just gets on my nerves, even if it’s a book in a fanfiction being read by a fictional character.

This may seem overly nit-picky but that’s not how I meant it to be. Just meant it to be some helpful advice.

Nice tie up chapter. I strongly recommend this story. I'm going to start reading "Acceptance" by hermione snape. I hope that it will turn out to be just as good.

I'm so glad that in this last chapter, you didn't have neo-Death Eaters disrupting the Quidditch World Cup (and targeting the Grangers). Yay that H&H also avoided Dumbledore's schemings because now Dumbles is gone for good.

I do enjoy the story, but they were too young to be sleeping together in the same bed, with no clothes on, when you wrote quite clearly to me, that Harry was particularly uncomfortable about it, along with the comments from Hermione saying that she had allowed him access to touch her body, and expected the same in return. That's just not on. She's pressurising him to do things he is not comfy with. A bloke would be done for grooming, or perhaps rape. Them just cuddling would have been more than appropriate, at 11 and 12, boys are just boys. They're not even young men, they mature significantly later than girls, so realistically there would have been at least 2 years (probably nearer 3) difference in sexual and emotional maturity. Hermione's mother should have stomped on her daughter taking advantage on Harry in that fashion. Normalising the human bodies is totally different to Hermione encouraging a much younger child to touch her puberty changing body. That's the problem with how you were presenting this almost paedophilic story.
