Spades chapter 14 . 9/18/2003 Please tell me that is not the end of this story? If it is then I seriously hope that you are in the process of writing another story after this one. Maybe one where they go through the whole baby process and all of that fun stuff. Funny to think of Legolas waiting for the baby to come along. Be driving his poor father up the wall. So anyway, that was a beautiful story and I am anxiously awaiting Part 2. |

SilverWinter chapter 14 . 9/18/2003 YAY! You updated. I nearly squealed with delight when I saw that you've updated. I liked this chapter alot because Valia not only agreed to Legolas' proposal but she also answered without any hesitation. I hope the next chapter will be soon, and not as short as this one was. I guess I'm just used to reading longer chapters from you. But it gave the same result only in a shorter way. Always keep writing! |

The Power of The Book chapter 14 . 9/18/2003 Lady Silma, your sense of timing is astonishing. It's my birthday, and this was a truly wonderful gift. Thank you. The Legolas kiss was also very well-recieved. Glad to know that you have revived your computer and brought it back from the depths of technology malfunctions. Oh, yeah, and the review...almost forgot. I did wonder how long they would be separated. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it just seems to toy with and torment this relationship. Aren't Thranduil and Elowen the most caring of parents? Appreciated the update on Valia's family. Was wondering if that man-hungry sister of hers had finally settled down. And Glorfindel and Cithien are betrothed! (Throws some of Valia's garden's pink and white blossoms in celebration.) The mighty Balrog-slayer can at last rest. Nice lead-up to The Question. The imagery of the peaceful garden is quite stirring, anticipatory, even. Our favorite couple shines in this chapter, with all reactions, hesitancies, and emotions completely in tune with the tapestry of their romance to date. So he kept the box all these years, holding onto hope. (Wipes away a tear at the image of Legolas silently opening a drawer to pull out the box and look at it every year.) Amusing that the five months should seem longer than the four hundred years they were parted in their first separation. It is also reassuring that their betrothal feast is a small family affair, and not a monstrosity like the one between Legolas and the elf-witch. They haven't had much simplicity in their relationship, so it is good that some things can endure without being needlessly complicated. Nice job, Davan! Currently waiting for Hurricane Isabel to make her mark on my area. Davan, what if we gave the elf-witch some large, unfoldable wings (a'la Icarus)and dropped her in the middle of the gusts? (Thinks a moment.) Hey, I got a hurricane and one of Lady Silma's chapters for my birthday! Score!) And Legolas is wondering about his resolve to leave Valia's side. As I recall, he took off like a shot when Galadriel called him away when he was betrothed to the elf-witch. I can see him now - "Sorry, forgot my cloak - may I stay a few nights more?" Out of curiosity (not criticism, and certainly not complaining!), I am curious why you rated this chapter PG-13, and not chapter 12. I would have thought that that one would be the one to get the mark of 13. Once again - thank you for the amazing gift. Wanted to get my Ch. 6 out today, but with Calculus and the next half of harvest this weekend, I doubt it will be out until sometime next week. Will work overtime to try and get it out by tonight, but am making no promises. More eager for the next chapter than Legolas and Valia themselves, although I wager they'd disagree with me.
