That was brilliant. I can't wait now till the next chapter. Your story is really really good and it shows, as its the only ff that i bother to carry on reading. Your right, it seems such a long time ago since this was started and i shall be most sad when i can no longer read about valia and her misadventures.

A wonderfully descriptive chapter! You could almost see the stunning beauty of the masquerade (and the elves there) and feel the engery and emotion. I have offically decided to worship you as one of the most amazing writers that it had ever been my good fortune to come across.

I might have said this before, but i will say it again. I can't read any other fanfics depicting Legolas with a she-elf that is not Valia. I always think, "Why do people have to tear apart canon couples? Tolkien's worf is law! Why does no one do this to Aragorn and Arwen?"- Then I remember that you aren't Tolkien. *sigh* But you're almost as good.

Of course, when it's titled "The Edge," you just know good things are in store.

Brilliant chapter, absolutely charming. The detail, especially that of the 'behind-the-waterfall' setting, was very vivid. I live in the Appalachin Mountains, so I've hiked behind several waterfalls, and that is exactly what it's like! Even better is to hike in the snow to a spot beneath a frozen waterfall, very much like being in a Faerie (or an Elf!) palace, what with the crystals surrounding you on the inside of the small cave, and the 8-foot icicles that hang from the opening.

Elowen and Thranduil deserve to take a bow for the extraordinary feat of timing and subtlety they pulled off that day. Not only did they prepare a place for her (the cooks anticipated it? Give me a break, Thranduil), they timed their visit to the stables perfectly. Their presence allowed Valia to relax against Legolas on the journey there, and their embarrassing stories gave Legolas a push to pull Valia away with him. Unfortunately, their timing was also good enough to stop the long-denied kiss a moment before it was shared. They could have waited just a few more seconds, for crying out loud! Then again, they did let the two of them get that far...Here's to Legolas's Mom and Dad, perhaps among the best in-laws one could wish for! (Or the worst, considering their timing with that last incident)

I think I said something a little while ago about their being something in the waters of Laiquarille that made one exceptionally bold. Perhaps soaking in it, being surrounded by it heightens the effect. If this is the case, I suggest that our favorite Elven couple take a freezing cold swim, hypothermia be damned.

Joking aside, these two have really jumped a lot of hurdles for each other. If Valia could give Legolas a boost (which, given her eager response, she just might have), he might be able to clear the hurdle composed of half-hearted promises and fluttery blue dresses (hint, hint). Their playful banter as they walked to the waterfall is evidence of a lasting friendship, thankfully unmarred from Legolas's betrothal.

With thoughts on the future, how are Legolas and Valia going to come to terms with the narrowly averted kiss? Are Elowen and Thranduil going to talk to their son about the kiss, or will they just let him stew in anxiety? And, of the most paramount importance, what animals are Valia and Legolas going to masquerade as?

Hm...the ballroom opens out onto a grassy lawn? This presents possibilities for the ball, and not just romantic ones. Grassy lawn, grassy knoll, get my meaning, Davan? Take a break from your college studies (hope that's going well for you!), and join me as we go elf-witch hunting! You shoot, I'll come up with plausable denial.

Oh, and I posted another chapter last week. Elrond and Caffrawen have a standoff in his library...and it goes downhill from there.

It seems that just when I think the story couldn't get better you come out with a new chapter that's bordering on phenomenal.

I know I'm one of those *silent* reader. (The ones who rarely reveiw) But I've been following this whole story and the one before it since they began and I have loved it.

The only problem I have with it is it's driving me crazy to read about Legolas and Valia dancing circles around one another. And I just can't stand that simpering Hadriela. (it kinda reminds me of a girl I used to know) Hopefully, she'll get her just desserts. (HINT HINT!) lol

Aww...they were almost there! They almost kiss! You're torturing me! Well..that was a so sweet moment at the waterfall, all the picnic was great :) and...I have to say that Legolas' parents are evil! ehehehe but I like them a lot, so kind
