She’s too weak, borderline pathetic.

I don’t understand why so many female main characters have no pride and act like damsels in distress, and yet, we’re supposed to believe they’re from our world. Begging? Crying? Thanking her captor because he gave her a piece of fabric? NO modern woman would act like this. This is how children act. It frustrates me so much that these women are meant to be “gentle” and “full of light”—the one to “melt a hard man’s heart”. Why can they not be harder? Why can they not have internal strength that rivals that of the men? These characters are all the same, and no one seems to want to take the leap to actually create a modern woman.

I hope your well. I just finished reading your story thus far. I really enjoyed it and wanted to thank you for your work. It was really hard to stop reading for a moment an do something else, because the characters soon became so very familiar to me and I longed to know, how their story enfolds. I still do, but I totally understand when you won't write the ending. It is your freetime after all and surely no duty. Here I'm struggling with the words, because english is not my native tounge and though reading is easy, writing is not. So I hope you understand that I do not want to demand anything - because no reader has the right to do so - and still tell you, that I would be very happy if you continued your story. Do you have the saying "Hope dies last"? ;-)
The revelation in the end, that Lothiriel is or was betrothed to Theodred, helps very much to imagine how the story might go on. Ah but I longed to know Charlottes reaction, she must be very shocked or confused. And I always struggle to imagine the end of someone else's story because you surely had some ending in mind. But I forgot to apply the filter for completed storys and then I was captured ;-).
And I liked your description of the honest and straightforward Rohirrim very much.

I'm a writer who also disappears for long stretches of time during difficult moments in my life, when just getting through personal life and work is enough and there is no more energy left to squeeze out a story. But I want you to know that even when you don't write, you're remembered. Every now and then I think of this story, and how it fuelled my own creativity. It encouraged me to work on my prose, and i aspired to raise the same feelings in my fiction as you did in yours. I started reading this before ever reading lord of the rings, because obviously, I had working eyesight when i watched the movies time after time. When i finally read them last year it was obvious to me how dear Eomer was from the second he appeared on the page and it was your work which gave life to my vision of the relatively small person in the original tolkien story. I hope life gets easier for you, or has become easier for you, and it treats you kinder than it did during the pandemic. And one day, when your cup is full again, i hope you discover the joys of writing again, and have tie for hobbies which give joy, because you have a real talent.

Just came back for reread. This is one of my favorite MC goes to middle earth stories. I truly wish the author well and hope one day they will be able to come back and finish the story but for now I’ll just keep rereading it and loving what we have already.

Merry and Pippin ahhhhhh! Finally we meet more of the fellowship! This story is great by the way I’m like literally inhaling it and feel very sad that soon I will reach the end. One of the best lotr fanfics by far!

2024 marks the 10th year of me reading your work - I got introduced to Stirring the leaves when I was still in high school, and now being Charlotte's age reading through this just hits differently 3 Just as with STL I feel in love almost immediately - and can we talk about the CLIFFHANGER?! aaaaa I'm totally normal (lies I'm not. someone hug Theodred!)

About once or twice a month I hop back onto FFN and re-read your works; they've been some of my favourite fics on this entire site and I cannot thank you enough for putting these out here for us.

Thank you for such a lovely story, and I love that Elizabeth Darrow is essentially canon. Stirring the leaves is my favourite fanfic ever. Wishing you all the best and hopefully a return.

OH. MY. WORD. I was going to wait until I got caught up before leaving a review, but my jaw DROPPED! I had no idea you were the author of Stirring of the Leaves! I remember reading that one so long ago and a few months ago I started a re-read. You are such a great writer!

I haven't even finished this chapter, but I'll go ahead and leave a review lol. This story has me hooked. Eomer, to me, is so in character and I'm absolutely loving Charlotte. I love that you're taking things from the movies and books.
