Reviews for Harry Is A Dragon, And That's Okay |

![]() ![]() ![]() Nice to hear you returning to HP, and here's hoping this one gets further than your previous work in this fandom(which I quite enjoyed prior to realizing it was liely abandoned). Anyways, some of my thoughts on the story thus far and the comments from my fellow readers: The Dursleys here seem to be only slightly, if any, less abusive than their canon counterparts. If anything, this version of Harry, being tougher and stronger physically thanks to his draconic nature can shrug off the physical abuse and finds most of the chores much less strenuous than in canon, and since his draconic digestive track apparently allows him to double as the Dursley's garbage disposal, I doubt he's feeling the effects of barely getting any human food. That leaves the verbal abuse, but that's much easier to ignore if one isn't dealing with the effects of being overworked, underfed, and beaten. In other words, Dragon Harry is probably abused as much as Canon Harry, but doesn't realize he's being abused due to lack of impact. Granted, the greater toughness of his Dragon form and the ease with which he can escape Dudley and his gang probably means less accidental magic for his Aunt and Uncle to get mad about, Dudley and co giving up on Harry Hunting as futile, which could contribute to Dudley seeing Harry as less of a punching bag and more of a backup playmate(hence forcing Harry to play a co-op game with Dudley), and since Dragons seem to automatically have notice-me-not charms on them strong enough that no one, not even his own family, noticed Harry turned into a Dragon, probably no one notices when he does things he shouldn't be able to(e.g. Harry flies to the roof, muggles might see him climbing some ivy on the side of the building. Dragon Harry munches on the shrubbery, Petunia probably sees her nephew diligently pruning the bushes, Harry gobbles down most of the household trash, the Dursleys probably just think he's doing a good job of keeping the house clean and taking out the garbage without having to be told. In other words, Harry's Draconic nature, in addition to letting him shrug off the abuse, coupled with whatever prevents muggles from seeing a five-foot talking, flying lizard allows him to live up to the ridiculous standards they've placed on him. That this version of Harry seems well-adjusted enough to think the Hogwarts letter silly, is handling the disposal of the letters, cooperating witih efforts to block delivery and seems to share their annoyance probably helps to keep their reactions more reasonable as well. As for Clothes, I'm guessing Dudley's hand-me-downs are baggy enough and Harry cold resistant enough that he can just wear short sleeves year round and stretch the arm holes enough to accomodate his wings. And Failing that, I kind of doubt the Dursleys would care much if Harry cut/tore holes for his extra appendages, and whatever hides his draconic nature might hide any such modifications. The robes are custom work, but they also fit properly. |
![]() ![]() ![]() How many years has it been since I read the Sorcerer's Stone... sigh... a stroll down memory lane. I can just see that little black dragon swimming the galleons, knuts, and sickles. Now that is a proper hoard. Though it also seems that this particular dragon might want a hoard of books. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The humor is quite good - his lair, dietary habits, and the growing hoard of paper. The visual description helped a lot, thanks for that. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Note to self - don't read this author's work while at work - they get suspicious when you snort coffee through your nose and its painful too! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Curious how this shapes out or how different everything becomes because of that one admittedly quite large change. Keeping him in character is something that I've seen is difficult with such premises. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I thought so! Gods, this is brilliant. Must cuddle happy bittydragon who has letters and gold and BOOKS to hoard. Also, must cuddle Nev. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I like this a lot! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is very good, can’t wait to read more. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I predicted the glasses falling off! Lol. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Since you mentioned surprising him, I assume that will happen and we get to see just what his glasses flying off will be like. |
![]() ![]() ![]() :D |
![]() ![]() ![]() I... I love this. I mean the premise made me stare at the summary for a bit until I HAD to read it, but then I was expecting a one-shot crack. To find this is an actual story, and nowhere near as crackish as I feared, combined with the fact that you're actually a quite compelling writer? I have to finish this, more! |
