Things are getting serious for both of them. Running into Trey might be the catalyst for Harry to take a chance. He at least unburdens himself to Tracey. He needs a sympathetic ear and she has the tact to go along with Harry when it is clear he doesn’t yet want Daphne to know.

Harry finally ends up in the witches apartment. Good that they have vials of hangover potion. Something is going to have to break this logjam and the call from Trey doesn’t help. Harry clearly doesn’t have the heart to fight this. His leaving when he did shows he’s resigned to take his lumps and retreat again.

Daphne will have to take the next step. But who will give her the nudge?

One hurdle they both had to clear was the negative socialization into the house system at Hogwarts. Clearly Daphne had some genuine attraction to Harry. For Harry, to see that not all Slytherins were DeathEaters in training was a victory. But Harry must have had a latent attraction to her at least for his near instantaneous attraction to her.

Having Tracey be an American is a nice twist. I am intrigued by her mention of a previous relationship(?) with someone else. Her comment about Daphne waking up in Harry’s arms shows her perceptiveness.

Indeed ‘tis clear they both want this. While she’s disappointed and Harry kicks himself for a lack of “Griffindor courage”, the fact is that his hesitation likely is for the best. They need a bit of breaking to ensure they don’t crash and burn in moving too fast.

While my OTP is Harmony, Haphne runs a strong second. This is not an unusual frame, Harry being cheat upon by Ginny. What is different is Harry getting out of Dodge. The reasons you give are quite sound. I never liked Harry as an Auror. He’s paid his dues so why should he have to put himself on the line any more? ‘Tis clear that he’s fed up with Britain and needs the anonymity NYC can provide.

One of the joys anytime Daphne is involved in a story is that she’s really a blank slate as canon hardly says anything about her. One does need to suspend disbelief a bit though. Her parents sound too cosmopolitan to fit into canon well. Following canon, there’s little chance that Voldemort & Co. would leave them alone. No hint of that here.

Framing the story in the setting of Fashion Week works. You get Harry interested in Central Park anyway, so their meeting isn’t very contrived. She shows her cosmopolitan roots by teaching him the classic way to eat grilled cheese and tomato soup.

I have a nitpick but is significant for the story. “,,, do not. I repeat, do not return it” is clearly wrong, the direct opposite of was he means. It could be ‘… do not not return it.’ Or ‘… do not keep it’, or any of a number of ways that sentiment can be written.

Hooray, you spelt ‘vial’ correctly, but ‘gravelling’ not ‘grovelling’ (okay, in the USA it only has one ‘l’) not really! However, I really am enjoying the story, and those are minor details, as are the other typos. You have genuine talent as a writer.

Feel sure that I have read this before, but what the heck, it’s a good story! Worth a re-read.

This is a great story idea. However, you seriously need a Beta to help you. Missing words, using the wrong word (example: attendant instead of attention), mis-spelled words, periods in the middle of a sentence or in place of a comma, etc.
