Reviews for Three Black Birds |
---|
oldpotato chapter 37 . 9/19 Thought the last 3 years worth of chapter summaries were a little bit too much into following canon. But this epilogue absolutely makes up for it. Extremely heartwarming ending, loved it a lot. Kudos |
oldpotato chapter 32 . 9/19 You are the biggest tease you know? Slow burn of 30 chapters, they finally get together but then the story gets put on the shelf. Well, if you ever come back to this one, you'll have at least one reader. Seriously enjoyed the character of Delf in this story. The eyes showing emotional colors along with the triple raven tattoo was seriously creative. Cheers |
oldpotato chapter 29 . 9/18 First, I really, really enjoy this story. The only WBWL story that I genuinely enjoy in this genre, and I love how you haven't made James/Lily into these heartless monsters that just abandon their son at the first opportunity like 99% of other WBWL stories. But after 4th year, you've kind of relegated James and Lily into comedic omake characters. They should absolutely be furious that one of their underage sons was forced to compete in a extremely dangerous tournament. You had one line about talking to Dumbledore a few chapters ago, but nothing came of that. They didn't even meet Harry to offer advice. Same with the Rita Skeeter situation. I guess it's plausible that neither reads the newspaper, but seeing your son get slandered in the newspaper should trigger some of action from a parent. They shouldn't have had to receive Harry's letter requesting them to do something to actually do something. Either way, still love the story. Unfortunately, it does look like this story is abandoned/not complete. Shame. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 32 . 4/16 Dammit! You have no idea how frustrating it is to read this far into a story only to find out it's been abandoned. The last few chapters have been much better in terms of original writing and I am deeply disappointed that the story got axed when it was starting to get good. Personally, I think y'all should have gone with the hiatus plan, even at a chapter a month the story would have been finished by now. Anyway, thanks for the effort you two put into the story and good luck with your future endeavours. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 29 . 4/16 If you cut out the direct quotes from the novels, this story would be at least a third shorter than it is. I enjoy the original scenes but I audibly groan anytime I come across scenes that are copied almost word-for-word from one of the books. True the story is becoming a bit different from canon but you're still using the books far too often to pad the story. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 28 . 4/16 Do they not have libel in the wizarding world? |
Nimbus2023 chapter 27 . 4/16 I seriously wish you had just made Harry the Hogwarts champion instead of this fourth-champion nonsense. I like your writing style but you seem too afraid to blaze your own trail with this story. Just about every major event thus far has more-or-less been dubbed from canon and quite frankly, it's getting tedious. If Barty could confundus the goblet to believe there is a fourth champion it is just as plausible that he could trick into making Harry the LEGITIMATE Hogwarts champion. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 17 . 4/15 I'm starting to think that you are going to revert to canon anytime that you can get away with it to speed things like that ng Didn't the three black birds learn the patronus charm during the summer after their third year? What was the point of them learning the spell if not for them to use it? I never liked the 'Harry constantly feints' trope in canon and I am even less enthusiastic about reading it in fanfiction. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 15 . 4/15 Well spank my ass and call me Daisy, Harry actually grew a backbone. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 14 . 4/15 The Weasley prank was kind of lame. Considering Fred and George's ingenuity in canon, the lacklustre hair-dying prank was disappointing |
Nimbus2023 chapter 13 . 4/15 Harry was utterly useless in this chapter. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 13 . 4/15 You are really stuck on repeating all of the stupid decisions Harry made in canon, aren't you? You didn't factor in that Harry is two years older and would be bound to make different choices with a more mature mindset. Case in point, Harry dropping his wand in a dangerous situation, what kind of moron sets down their only means of defence in a life-or-death situation? |
Nimbus2023 chapter 12 . 4/15 After the tantrum, Harry threw about his parents only showing up to the game for Will, Harry pulls the exact same thing on Katie? |
Nimbus2023 chapter 9 . 4/14 Also, Harry still needs to grow a set of testicles and yell his parents where to go. |
Nimbus2023 chapter 10 . 4/14 Question, why was Tom at Nearly-Headless Nick's deathday party? In the book, Harry comes back from Quidditch practice covered in mud and Nick saves him from detention with Filch and requests he attend the party in return. Tom who randomly fills in for canon Harry is not on the quidditch team so what could Nick possibly have done to get Tom's pampered pompous ass to go down to a frigid dungeon and miss the Halloween feast? |
