For the war of the Five Kings, people have been talking on how the Knights of the Vale could have tipped the scale in the North's favor and I don't think it would help in the show. For two reasons really Robb and Catelyn.
Catelyn would do anything to get her daughters back, anything like freeing the Kingslayer even though he was a huge bargaining chip. Catelyn would probably freed other lannister prisoners as well.
Robb has from the start shown that he is too soft.( His father's fault )Doesn't have the capacity to kill unarmed prisoners or scouts, always believed in mercy. He claimed that any retaliation against the lannisters and Joffery would hurt Sansa, two things one Joffery was always going to hurt Sansa for one reason or another, and the next Robb should have just come down to King's Landing and swear fealty, probably wouldn't have done him any good, but still. Robb kept pissing off his bannermen, first by dragging the lannister army feeding them, weakening his own, and the next not honoring his vows. Robb is bit of a hypocrite by not wedding a Frey girl, then chastising the Kastarks Lord for unlawful murder of two boys, not even trying to understand why

I have no idea how you did it. all that history and wars, the strategies, the lore...did you have any help or did you plan all of it in your mind? it's amazing! and I hope one day I can write something similar but I know will never come close to this masterpiece.
