![]() ![]() ![]() One review points out that Voldie could have used indirect, physical effects to kill Nate, but Tom was very prone to using direct, flashy attacks, as a way of demonstrating his personal power. As a muggle-raised half-blood, he had nobody to teach him about the physical exception to the rule of blood that he could not magically harm his seniors in blood, and with his 'Lord' persona, being taught the basics that any pureblood child should know would have eroded the legitimacy of the persona. If he had invaded somebody's mind, would he have even considered raiding that sort of childhood, background knowledge? Harry was taught that very recently, and Tom might have seen a reference and dismissed it as useless trivia in his studies. In the midst of a battle, Tom would probably not have thought to test using such 'trivia' unless he was sure it would work. |
