IMHO Harry forgave Ron too easily, both in canon (where he didn't even properly appologize!) and in your story!

Seriously, in Harry's shoes I'd consider cutting all ties with Ron for what he did.

Hell, if I gave him another chance he'd be on "probation" for YEARS (and after leaving on the 'crux-hunt he'd be SOL and I would publically denounce him!)

Otherwise: Interesting read, love it (don't much care for Fleur's superiority complex, but that's ok, the French kind of do have that...despite the fact that Germany handed them their asses several times and the British, too!)

Absolutely love this story.
I’m not usually a fan of 1st person POVs in fics, but this is the first story that I’ve read that has made me actually enjoy the unique take on things. You’ve written Harry’s perspective extremely well, and it is a pleasure to read.

The thing that I love the most in this fic is the Harry/Fleur dynamic, and seeing them open up and trust each other more. That scene with Fleur and sweets was very endearing, and it made me love her character that much more. Harry and Fleur having their own little corner to hide away from everyone also added a nice touch to their interactions.
Their dynamic is also very fun and light, almost effortless, and makes for a very satisfying read.

Keen to see how the events surrounding the ball goes, and what impact that has on their relationship.

This is probably one of my favourite Harry/Fleur fics that I’ve read.
You have something truly great here, and I’m very excited to see how the rest unfolds.

Incredible. Truly incredible. I truly admire how you present Harry as a student learning complex magic and coming into his own, but still lacking experience and not being able to handle ancient magic without strain.

The reuniting with Ron is a great scene too, as too many stories make Harry inexplicably vengeful, and Ron excessively bitter. It makes sense for Ron to lash out in the heat of the moment, as that is so very human, but after what those two have been through, its too out of character for them to stay mad after a life - and - death situation like the first task. You're doing an incredible job, and I'm really looking forward to your next chapter and to see how you tackle the Yule Ball!

I dont have the perfect timeline in my mind, but if Hogsmede occurs before Yule, then perhaps Harry would gain the confidence to ask Fleur then? Or Fleur ask Harry? Or perhaps you'll take it down some different path I cant forsee xD

Really intriguing story you got here. The way you write the characters.. including the harry/fleur interactions really shines. Keep up the wonderful work.. you got a heartwarming story here! Excited to see where the story heads next.

It always seems ron is forgiven too easily in most fics. Unfortunate you chose this path as well, but generally a very strong chapter outside of this. Thanks for your hard work on it, looking forward to future installments.

I love this story! Some thoughts.
1. Great title. Evocative.
2. Your choices of how and where to accent and shape Fleur’s speech is amazing. You can tell that you put a lot of thought into it, and it is certainly a labor of love. Most people try it and screw it up which gets distracting, but you do such a good job it adds a lot to the story.
3. I love the Harry/Ron/hermione interaction in chapter 2, you do a great job of writing them. It’s a shame that disappears. Plot, I know, but hopefully the reconciliation comes just to see more of their friendship.
4. The opening lines of chapter 3 are so frank and perfect. Huge plus to being in Harry’s head. There are a few great chapter openings.
5. But while we’re in Harry’s head, give us more emotion, more reaction. How do these events make him feel? There are huge swaths of story where we just get a lot of stated facts and not enough reaction from the brain we are following along in. We end up disconnected as readers because we want a character to relate to. This is overwhelming- Harry should feel it. How do his feelings manifest physically? More of this.
6. Fleur and Harry have such great interactions. This is a function of how true the characters stay to themselves. Sarcasm, self awareness. Harry mocking her accent in chapter 6 is honestly hilarious.
7. Chapters 7 and 8 are a perfect culmination of all of the building beforehand. It all feels very organic. Fleur is balanced and properly reactive, Harry is the perfect middle place between being meek and being unrealistically confident. Your writing really shines in the easy way they converse.
8. The dragon fight is brilliant. One of the best ones I’ve seen in Goblet of Fire remakes. It loses points for being over the top for a fourteen year old, but gains major points for being f’ing awesome and creative and dramatic. Not to mention, you do a great job with Pomfrey.

That was great. Sweet fun exciting with good character moments. and best of all Harry is impressive while clearly struggling and at a disadvantage. That is great usually it's either all luck he should be dead or so easy you think well crap if a dragon is nothing to him go fight voldy now, this balance was very well done.
