![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, my. I love this so much! |
![]() ![]() ![]() A touching, poignant snapshot. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The sense of peace and contentment is great, and I especially like the line: "Is that supposed to be old Strider?" he said. "Looks naught like him." |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great job. I don't like thinking of the characters old... I prefer to have a headcanon that they live forever. Don't ask me how, they just do. BUt you did great this time. |
![]() ![]() ![]() How sweet and poetic! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Beautiful story! Wish there were more stories like this, really. You did a very good job with this fic. - EA |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just loved this...the sense of time and yet also that it was simply yesterday Faramir and Sam had spoken of gardeners; the idea of tree planting..and treasures; and the happy easy peace. And a peak at Leof's life and family. A treat. Congratulations on your placing :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() I can absolutely believe this happened. So beautiful, even though it's always sad to see our old friends growing, well, old. :) The relationship between Sam and Faramir is just wonderful! Excellent work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Was the grace given to Numenor not supposed to grant long life as well as departing from life at one's own will? Sort of passing on to another level voluntarily, without being forced by creaking joints, and worse, years - more than a decade in Faramir's case - before actually dying? As long as you could recognize the adequate point? But who knows of course how much grace of Numenor was still at work in the fourth age political actors at that point. And whether Faramir was able to recognize when his time had come. Aragorn seems to have remained in good shape until he lay down on his deathbed however. I don't remember Eowyn's exact share of Gondorian (obviously not equalling Numenorean) heritage . Grandmother from Gondor, but else no idea. Faramir on the other hand, from a sideline of Gondor's royal house in all probability ... Not the main point of your fic, but it struck me as interesting... |
![]() ![]() I love this story. I have always liked the way you portray the lovely Faramir and it feels perfect that he and gentle, down-to-earth Sam would be close friends. I'm surprised that Legolas wasn't with them at the tree planting ceremony as he would have enjoyed it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() What a wonderful story. So sweet and warm, and so touching. I love the thought of Faramir and Sam staying in touch after the events in the book, and their spending time together in a garden seems especially fitting. |
