![]() ![]() ![]() Well, this is going to be interesting, how do they plan to kill a Baphomet (preferably before she reveals anything about Matilda) and not spark a war the Huntress is trying to prevent. something along the lines of seeing her hurt Matilda and using it as an excuse of them attacking her group so she can challenge her and kill her? |
![]() ![]() ![]() So what would the solution (If there is one) be to the population crisis humans, dwarves, elves and other races in this world experience due to the mamono? This world is impossibly complicated to really solve it feels like? This story is still better than outright slaughter, pro-order stories I've stumbled upon where a character would slaughter an entire village that is neutral where mamono and humans alike are all killed and is just cringe to me. The quagmire situation that enraps this world will get dumped into Selena's lap at some point so it'll be interesting to see how she reacts to any of it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Consider me interested. Sure everything so far during this stay in the city was interesting, but they're what I somewhat expected so far from a city of sex. A human who hasn't been corrupted despite being so far within Mamono land and a Mamono that one of our protag assured must be killed out of everyone they met so far however? Now that's interesting. Taking down (or attempting to take down) a site dedicated to detailing everything about their media is such a...management thing to do. I assume it's because they don't own the site, thus have no control over it. The wiki only helps promotes and add context to the media in my opinion. Silly and dumb, not like this fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I do truly love this fic. It’s an awesome spin on MGE and also probably my favorite Bloodborne fic. But god DAMN this pacing is awful. Each chapter is decently long, but so little actually happens. You have like 5 simultaneous subplots running at once, and each new chapter only moves an inch forward with each one, and with the time between chapters, that gets really rough. I’ve been waiting on edge for this grand confrontation between Selina and Druella ever since it first got built up 3 YEARS and nearly 30 chapters ago. And since that point in time, maybe a week has passed in the story? It’s just…the writing is so good, but there’s so much bloat with plot threads, and this chapter introduced what, 2 new plot threads? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oof, oh boy looks like the possible killing of Lucella may be what breaks the peace. Although honestly something was bound to happen sooner or later considering certain Mamono don't know when to leave things alone. Yeah, Miraheze Management did not like what they saw and so they gave them the boot. |
![]() ![]() Lucella: "How does she manage to keep those blobs of fat on her chest hidden?" Matilda: "That's private information." [My commentary on this exchange probably has nothing to do with reviewing this chapter but it’s 'invasive shit' like this (as well as other examples in the previous chapters) that triggers my 'murderous rage' on anything that falls under the 'Sexual Harassment and Rape Tropes' — just an 'observation' but if anyone were to shove the "Monster Girl Encyclopedia" into my face and declare it flawlessly good (especially without acknowledging even the slightest criticism), I would probably bludgeon them with said book and put them on a one-way trip to the Emergency Department.] ~ YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love At The Bound Of This World ~ To 'AgeOfAngels': SHIT~ You were an 'OG'? Based on your Bio, I’m guessing it was only a few years after the original story was published… Well, I’m not judging you or anything because we all have our pasts (what matters is that we all 'grow up' eventually)… But yeah, how 'Blaze' took it all with 'grace/humility' makes them LEAGUES Better than 'Kenkou Cross' throwing 'Bitch Fits' in my books, especially when things don’t go the latter’s way. LOL. LMAO, even. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The Koga-Nobu conversation near the start was cute. |
![]() ![]() I could never really put into words my 'thought processes' on this Fanfic (even with the TV Tropes page) until you updated with this chapter… and from the character interactions (especially with meeting Elt), I believe I now can. That said, if you feel as if my 'assessments' are incorrect, I’m open to discussion. To start off, if I were to use the 'Freudian Trio' trope, your protagonist of "A Hunter’s New Home" represents the Ego (or Id), compared to "The Good Hunter"’s Id (or Ego) and "The Night Unfurls"’s Superego, both written by 'StaffSergeant': • Cyril (TGH) has PTSD, and any unfortunate 'triggers' to his time in Yharnam can set of the powder keg of 'bloodthirsty massacres'… • Kyril (TNU) is no-nonsense and almost ice-cold in his business (though no less dangerous than his counterpart; perks of Childhood's Beginning, I suppose)… • And Selina feels like she’s a (sort of) 'counterbalance' to the two men; she’s less bloodthirsty and nihilistic than Cyril, yet more emotional and open than Kyril… NOTEWORTHY TROPE — Anti-Hero: Make no mistake, the Good Hunter is a hero. But her willingness to 'Shoot the Dog' leaves her allies questioning this at times. The problem is that the world of "Monster Girl Encyclopedia" suffers from (some, if not all of) the following tropes in this Fanfic: • Belief Makes You Stupid (Belief in something can make people act against their own best interests.) • Believing Their Own Lies (A character tells 'Blatant Lies' and honestly believes it as the truth.) • Doublethink (Believing in contradicting ideas, often for the purpose of convenience.) • Happiness in Mind Control (A 'Mind Manipulation' victim prefers what’s been done to them. Alternatively, when the 'Mind-Control Device' or 'Hypno Trinket' is addictive for the brainwashed.) • I Reject Your Reality (Character cannot accept any other way than theirs, facts be damned.) • Implausible Deniability (Denial despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.) • Knight Templar (A villain who believes they’re the hero.) • Lawful Stupid (Someone who upholds and/or follows laws without reason or logic.) • Never My Fault (A character cannot and/or will not own up to their mistakes or misdeeds.) • Selective Obliviousness (A character cannot or refuses to accept a particular fact, even when faced with overwhelming evidence.) • Theory Tunnel Vision (Information is filtered to match with the person’s own ideals regardless of that information’s values, even if it is factual. All for the sake of emotional defence.) • They Just Don’t Get It (A character simply cannot understand or comprehend a basic concept for some reason or another.) So the moment when blood is shed (until there are no more left to cut down), it means that 'violence as a last resort' has been reached, when all other options of diplomacy and reconciliation have ultimately failed, despite their efforts… and there lies the tragedy of the Mamono’s inability to coexist with humanity without supplanting it. This ain’t a build-up to something like a Badass Showdown of "It Has to Be This Way" from "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" — Far From It. And with that said, it makes me lament the 'Misaimed Fandom' of StaffSergeant’s "The Good Hunter" more… Eh, hopefully you’ll be more successful in getting the point across, 'AgeOfAngels'. I think the lads over at Questionable Questing are more 'understanding', if I’m not mistaken? ~ YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love At The Bound Of This World ~ To 'MacaroniChicken' (Feb 3, 2025): Nah, you’re not the only one with the same train of thought… and here’s some 'fun' trivia if you’re willing to read — 'Blaze', the author of the original "Conversion Bureau" (TCB), later expressed regret at having written it due to the backlash he got for the misanthropic implications he never intended to convey (it was supposed to be a 'Wish-Fulfilment' story about going to Equestria without leaving your human friends behind; implications of Genocide were the LAST thing on his mind), viewing it as a poorly written work with a concept that is best left to other, more capable writers. Hell, if you want to learn more, check out the TV Tropes page for "The Conversion Bureau" if you haven’t done so already. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Don't disagree with most of what you wrote but I do find it hard to believe that mamono would suddenly abandon their incubus husbands en mass once male mamono start being born, aren't mamono smitten and in love with their partner for life in the setting of the world of MGE? Has there actually been a case of a mamono leaving their husband suddenly for someone else? Anyway, good chapter as always. |
![]() ![]() ![]() koga would've tried killing Sasha |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh I just love when those parasites are put in their place. I am not a fan of the Hunter going around trying to be nice. I want fire and brimstone. But this slow build up to the point where the Hunter sees no other source but to completely wipe out the parasites, either by killing or by reverting is going to feel nice. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Am I the only one who compared MGE to a MLP fanfic series "Conversion Bureau"? I mean both of them have the common themes of Transhumanism, how the two portrays the nonhumans (the Mamono and the Ponies respectively) as the "heroes" and humanity as the "villains". And how the fact that both stories have the losing your humanity and turning into a Mamono/Pony is treated as good thing? I'm suprised nobody is pointing this out. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Good chapter, it's fine if it took a while to make. You got a life outside of here and it's more important. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the chapter |
![]() ![]() ![]() As always the chapter is amazingly fun to read! i am a bit confused though, i remember that with Koga's situation it was revealed how the human personality is taken over by a mamono one when they transform, essentially trapping them in their own bodies. Why is it then that Selina still humors Elt's argument about how things are better this way? Shouldn't Koga's case enough of an imcentive for Selina to actively find a way to cure or put them mamono (Especially the kids, that whole mess is effed up) down as a mercy? Curious to where you are going with this, can't wait for the next one! |
