Reviews for Harry Black Book 2: The Rising Darkness |

![]() ![]() ![]() Headed straight over to book 3. Thank you so much for this fantastic and gripping series. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I stumbled over the title and for a second hoped this was a crossover/redo of the show “Black Books” but with Harry being the brooding asshole alcoholic with a terrible bookshop that magically never goes out of business. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ah. So Fleur summons fire, and is now renamed as Fluer? |
![]() ![]() ![]() From across the pond. Beauxbatons? It is in France, not in north america! |
![]() ![]() ![]() esta muy bien escrito algunas partes me conmovieron, me gusto mucho los comentarios sutiles de Nevil de la desconfianza del director |
![]() ![]() ![]() The only problem I had with this was you had them come in on the first day and light the goblet and introduce the other schools and say they had a day to enter. Then you talked about them training for a month and then had the names come out on what sounded like Halloween at one point. IDK if the order of scenes got messed up or what but that was all kinds of confusing. Really enjoying the story anyway. |
![]() ![]() Love your writing. Only picked up on these 'Harry Black' stories last week on night shift, so night shifts again and I have barn-stormed 'HB-1'. I have got to laugh though! Easy to tell you're a Yank! Bacon, eggs, with WAFFLES & SYRUP! What the blazes is that about?! In a central London old pub! lol! Bacon, eggs, sausages, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, two slice of toast and a large mug of tea, that's more like it! lol Love the stories, though! Oh yea, and the use of 'dove'! That's a feathered bird that looks like a small pigeon over here. We use 'dived'! Never mind. Keep writing. 'Two separate nations divided by a common language'. Love it. I work on a USAF airbase in Suffolk, England, RAF Lakenheath with USAF fighter jets. Well seen I am used to the lingo! Regards David (I am using the work internet so I am not on my own lap top. Davinius Gerard Fogg on fanfiction.) |
![]() ![]() ![]() This shit . Only shit. Fic veryyyyyy veryyyyyy shit |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great and original read so far... now on to book 3 |
![]() ![]() ![]() Overall, I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next one. There was one thing that sticks out to me that I found disappointing about the story. Harry spent a lot of time feeling guilty about the innocent people that he couldn't save, but I don't remember anyone pointing out the number people that he did save because of his actions. For example, although Harry was told not to feel guilty about the 27 people that died following him defending people at the World Cup attack, no one mentions how many people would have been slaughtered if he hadn't had help with a defense. It seems there were multiple opportunities for Harry's friends and family to point out to him that his actions saved more people than following him put people in danger. That was my particular nit to pick. Otherwise, great characters and story. Thanks! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I guessed the ritual would affect the soul piece, but I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't think about it until right before the ritual started. |
![]() ![]() ![]() So now my question is does this situation cause a reaction with the crap that Dumbledore has been planting in Harry's mind and cause him to stop trusting her and not just have hurt feelings? Since those chapters have already been written, time to read on. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I don't get why readers would criticize you as a writer, because they don't like Dumbledore in this story. I think you've done a good job of portraying him the way you want him to be in this story. I don't like him in this story at all, but I don't like people like that in RL so I don't like the character. Isn't that a sign of good writing? These anonymous reviewers are another example of adults lashing out in anger anytime they are uncomfortable. I remember when that was only toddlers and the emotionally unstable. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm hoping at some point Dumbledore gets what's coming to him. |
![]() ![]() ![]() BTW, I love the fact that you describe the Ice Queen face as Daphne’s “resting bitch face.“ I’m positive that wasn’t a thing yet in the mid-90s, but I laugh every time you use that description. |
