I disagree with the idea that a coin weighing over 30 ounces (troy or otherwise) would ever circulate. The largest coins I am aware of that saw general circulation weighed well under a troy ounce. In the USA, the largest coin in general circulation was the dollar coin, which contained slightly over 0.7 ounces of silver. Even allowing for it being a 90% alloy of silver, that still made the total weight under 0.8 ounces.
