Reviews for Spells in Silence
Lily chapter 45 . 5/9/2024
I'm so happy to have found this story again! It is one of my favorites but I had forgotten the name, now I got to reread it and I believe there are also more chapters than before which is wonderful, I don't remember her interactions with Riddle from last time, it's really intriguing! Thank you for sharing :)
Lunarwolf150 chapter 45 . 5/7/2024
Outstanding chapter. Really like seeing a Tom looking to mentor our-harry. Be a shame if those books that were in the restricted section got burned in an unknown event. I also wonder if the old wizards somehow cast a modified Fidelis charm on the knowledge of druids, tied it into their bloodlines, and then pushed blood purity to maintain it. And since our-harry was born of druid descent, is not bound by the Fidelis since she already "knows" the secret.

good dam! it just keeps getting better, i love how hazel is uncovering the machinations of the wizarding world by accident
teruin42 chapter 45 . 5/5/2024
This story is a fascinating puzzlebox, it almost feels like a spy thriller at times.
Pjo crossovers chapter 45 . 5/4/2024
Another reason you might incorporate into the reasoning behind the statue is the rising power of the church
Guest chapter 45 . 5/3/2024
This might seem really stupid... but why do I get the feeling that wizards might have done a little more then just hide those books. something tells me there are wide spread spells to keep certain things foggy. perhaps a far weaker but wider spread confusion spell or something. that... that would actually explain a LOT about the wizards.
fictionalfinesse chapter 32 . 5/2/2024
i honestly have no clue what to make of Voldemort helping her figure out the druids
trimagassi chapter 45 . 5/2/2024
Great chapter SW, well done!
Thanks for your continuing to work on the story despite your busy life.
Hazel will probably be called a dangerous conspiracy theorist soon enough, but it will be a great chance for building the character, not to mention her friendships. One thing's for sure, Hazel is amassing a lot of knowledge about people and their secrets with her passive legimency skill. I assume that everything we've read about Filius' thoughts in this chapter from his pov was heard and understood by Hazel. She will have an absurd amount of leverage on everyone unless she is found out soon.
Guest chapter 45 . 5/1/2024
What I meant to add: That vision, like all visions, could have been less than entirely factual. Maybe just a bit of what she expected to see mixed with some actual facts mixed with something else? How could she *know*?
Guest chapter 45 . 5/1/2024
So... if she concluded that she was not a druid, and neither was her mother, and if she couldn't find any evidence of actually magical druids rather than just tales about priest-like Celtic people who may have believed they had magical powers but actually may not have had any magic at all (though possibly some knowledge of non-magical healing)... why would she be convinced that real magical druids *must* have existed?
Lukkai chapter 45 . 5/1/2024
The thing about the witch burnings is hardly the only thing in (HP canon) wizarding history that doesn't quite make sense, let's be honest. ;)
Though I do get the feeling that this particular one may have indeed come to be by ignorance of the original author about the subject. A lack of really researching the matter any deeply, instead just quickly browsing past a few summaries. So we do agree on that.
That being said, the wizards just constantly and vastly editing their history into something making them look like the can't-do-wrong/can't-be-wrong sort of people. Giving them the appearance of being the be-all and end-all of all magic knowledge and culture. Something they actually seem to mostly believe as well. That does fit quite well with the picture I got from the original material about how magical society, at the very least in Britain, is like.

Also good for Flitwick. I hope something comes from his reaching out. Even if it surely will take time.

Lastly all is not lost for Hazel, even if the druids are extinct. She will have to forge her own path and it will be harder. But she has been able to find information she can use. She has some allies that can aid her.
Keeper of the Fandom chapter 45 . 4/30/2024
I'm glad to see someone acknowledge how insane it is that Hazel can do all she does, instead of just brushing it off as an odd quirk. It really adds to the realism of the world, which just makes me love it more.

I literally screamed when I saw this fic update, I love it so much. I can't wait for you to continue!
vcarrizo497 chapter 45 . 4/30/2024
nirentos chapter 45 . 4/30/2024
Loving the additional lore/world-building in this update. Looking forward to the next ones.
DragonANGL chapter 45 . 4/30/2024
Hmm. Those years are after 1066, yes? That is, after the Norman Conquest of Britain. I wonder how much the conquering French influenced the previously-Anglo-Saxon wizards (or were the Anglos and Saxons druid-led themselves)?
