Reviews for Sonic The Hedgehog: The Fleetarch Conundrum
DB Heroes United chapter 1 . 11/30/2020
Wow you really have never read the Archie Comics, have you?

One Sonic the Comic Amy is actually the closest you will get to Amy being a damsel in distress.
Two Sonic Adventure 2 onwards Video Game Amy is mostly independent and does her own thing most of the time e.g. Holding her own against powerful badniks like ZERO

She is compassionate & smart enough to redeem Gamma and convince him to turn against Eggman. Starting Gamma's whole arc.

As for Archie Amy Rose and Archie Comics in general

Objectively Sonic the Comic has cartoonish art style. While Archie Sonic has more realistic one.
In Archie Sonic.

There are heavy themes of discrimination and civil war

Thousands of deaths and races on borderline extinction

Themes talking about the consequences of slavery.

In Sonic the Comic

Sonic acts like an emo goth.

That's literally all he does.

In Sonic the Comic

All Sonic does is act edgy and be a prick to his friends. That's not character development. Sonic stays the same asshole he always was with throwaway lines about how he hates his misfortune.

But who has Fleetway Super Sonic actually affected. No one. No one was killed. Super Sonic purely exist as a convenient deus ex machina in Sonic the Comic whenever Sonic is in danger. He is massively overrated. Its predictable and boring.

Sonic's problems are contrived and forced with no real substance. Sonic never actually changed as a character. He is still the same arrogant asshole he was at the start of the series.

In Archie Sonic

Sonic has to deal with many problems that develop him as a characters. From dealing with the problems of relationship, coping with the death of his friends, dealing with betrayal from trusted allies. None of Sonic's problems are solved quickly.

He goes from a brash, reckless person at the start of the series to a more mature and charismatic leader who learns to restrain himself and use strategic planning.

Archie Sonic gives multiple spin offs comics to the lesser known characters like Sally and Knuckles to help expand their back story.

They made a Sonic Universe spin off to expand on other characters besides Sonic as well.
During the story line everyone has their chance to shine. Sonic can't solve the problems on his own.

In Sonic the Comic

Sonic does all the work and his teammates are useless fodder.

Archie Sonic deals with much darker themes. There are very serious issues that are brought up in Archie and the stakes are much higher. Archie Eggman is one of the best and most dangerous villains in fiction. With a death count in the millions.

In Sonic the Comic

the villains are a joke and Sonic wins most of his battles easily.

It seems that you are babyraging because the series doesn't specifically go your way.

You think stc Amy seems more independent and more strong willed.

But really she has turned into a tomboy that's about it.

In Sonic the Comic

She is pretty much useless and barely does anything. She doesn't defeat any strong villains and in any real fights amy is useless.

She occasionally makes dumb ideas, a 2 year old could figure out to outsmart moronic villains.
She doesn't become more mature. She just loses interest in Sonic.

In the Archie Comics.

Amy shows heavy character development. She learns to get over her feelings for Sonic. And cooperate with Sally to become one of the most powerful members of the freedom fighters.

She shows maturity in helping Sonic and Sally fix their relationship despite her own feelings.

She goes on her own missions. For example in Sonic Universe. She helps Blaze find the Sol emerald along with Cream.

In that arc alone

She holds her own against Blaze in a fight.

She also fought against Shadow the Hedgehog and still held her own against him multiple times.

Shows leadership qualities in getting both Team Rose and Team Dark to stop fighters. Convincing both teams to work together and quickly thinking of a strategy to save the emerald.

She convinces Shadow to listen to reason and help Blaze save her world.

After Knothole was burned to ground.

She along with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles figured out a clever plan to save everyone from the Egg grapes and rescue them from Eggman's capture. She was significant member of the group.

During the Iron Dominion Arc.

She took on the Iron King Jun Kun. Who even the likes of Sonic and Monkey Khan couldn't manage to stop. And Amy was actually holding her own. In one of the most badass moments of the comics.

During Sonic absence. She leads to remaining freedom fighters in surgical strikes to protect as many civilians as possible and disrupting their enemies takeover of the city.

Amy is complete badass in the Archie Comics.

What did your bitch from Sonic the Comic do again. Oh right she barely managed to fool a couple of pirates into leaving them alone and tricked a couple of b list jokes for villains.

"This is why Sonic fell for Sally in the Archie Comics and not Amy because Sally is strong, she's a leader, a princess, a fighter, and someone that Sonic can depend on to have his back and reason with him when he's reckless."

Actually Amy in the Archie Comics. Has lead multiple teams. Is one of strongest fighters in the comic and has helped Sonic in multiple missions.

"She's not some poor defenseless girl who always needs to be rescued."

Actually Sally has been kidnapped more times than Amy in the comics.

You are clearly just babyraging and have never read the Archie Comics.

In Sonic the Comic

You mean the thing that zero effect on Sonic as a character. Again Sonic didn't change in the slightest. Sonic acting emo doesn't make him a better character.

In Archie Sonic

There is actual character development as Sonic becomes less reckless. World building is expanded upon as all the characters develop and become more mature especially the blue hero. By the end of he comic you can see how all his experiences has changed his life as he acts as an incredible leader.
He knows how to plan an effective strategy, he thinks of way to protect both the city and track down Eggman. He considers when to retreat and fight. He figures clever solutions to problems.

You have only shown your own bloated ignorance. This is just a bashing fic aimed towards to the Sonic series. So you wank off Sonic the Comic. One of the most overrated series. You are clearly jealous of the popularity the Archie comics has and it shows when you make childish rants like this over it.

If anything this fanfic shows why people shouldn't read the Sonic the Comic. And why the Archie Comics is the better series and the better fanbase.
Heroes of Legend chapter 1 . 11/24/2020
12) Sonic the Comic

Its full of lazily written one dimensional characters. Super Sonic is more of a plot device than anything else. Rarely any of the good guys actually gets more minor scratches from Super Sonic. Fleetway Sonic is an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. He never gets called out on his actions. And despite the headcanons from Fleetway's toxic fandom. Fleetway Sonic constantly treats his friends like garbage and gets away with it. He makes no effort to apologize or show remorse for his actions. He never suffers any consequences for his actions. Whether being a dick to Porker Lewis or his other teammates.

A far better example of Fleetway Sonic's character type. Well written Anti Heroes like Billy Butcher from The Boys TV Show or Iron Man from Marvel Comics. Their behaviour is shown to be toxic and their behaviour isn't constantly glorified like Fleetway Sonic's attitude is. They are actually called out on their actions. And this end up with them getting character development, apologizing for their past actions and making a real effort to become better people.

Another example like Chris Elman from Parahumans series Chris is consistently shown to be aloof, private, and withdrawn from the rest of the group. Nevertheless, in order to use his Tinker ability to its full potential, he needs to interact with other powers/people. Over time it becomes clear that he cares about Breakthrough (even after leaving the group) despite acting like they don’t matter to him. Although Breakthrough realizes that his constant Jerkass behavior is meant to emotionally distance himself from the team, they still consider him too much of an ass to deal with. Turns out it doesn’t matter if you like someone deep down when you insist on treating them like crap.

Fleetway Sonic lacks all of that. Fleetway Amy is massively overrated and even the STC writer admitted Fleetway Amy is a mary sue without any flaws. World Building & Character Development is non existent. Fleetway Robotnik doesn't really do anything all that special. He comes across as an incompetent idiot. He is basically an Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain. There is nothing of interest and its completely boring and bland. And there is the fact that the Fleetway STC Fandom is a complete toxic waste dump who insult and belittle every other Sonic fandom then have the nerve to question why STC is unpopular. ToaArcan being a prime example of that toxic fandom.

Best 11 Sonic Continuities

11) Sonic Underground

The characters have more interesting personalities and goals than the bland characters of Sonic the Comic. But the Music is ear grating and annoying. And the musical fights get quickly repetitive and annoying. Its also has a problem of lack of world building so every environment looks and feels the exact same. It also doesn't feel like any real progress is made throughout the story which gets dull very quickly.

10) Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog

It can pretty funny and comedic. Most of the characters do have interesting quirks which make the show surprisingly entertaining. But it has no real plot or character motivations to keep the story going. It is children's cartoon so fair enough.

9) Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)

Its ok. Its the first series to make Robotnik an intimidating villain and the series that arguably gave birth to the Archie Series. That said similar to Sonic Underground. Since the plot revolves around Robotnik having pretty much conquered the world. There is little change in environment. And not really much world building. Its pretty much just a group of children playing Spy Kids against an evil scientist. Interesting at first but gets boring pretty quickly. Doesn't help that character development is rare.

8) Sonic Boom

Similar to Adventures. It is full of exciting and quirky characters. It is more a comedic series. So there is less focus on action overall. And more focus on character interaction and comedy similar to a family drama series. And it does pretty well for what the show is aiming for. It still does manage to have interesting concepts like Roboken. A world where robots have free will and their own society.

The Ancients & Chaos Crystal were pretty interesting ideas but very little was done with them. A big downside is how childish and idiotic Dr. Robotnik is. Which makes it hard to take any battles in the show seriously. Since the villain is pretty much a clown. Boom Shadow is also a downside since it practically reeks of edgy stereotypes.

7) Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie

An amazing Movie. That mostly focuses on rivalry between Sonic & Metal Sonic. And does pretty goddamn good job of it. It makes Metal Sonic feel more human and multi dimensional. The battles feel intense and high stakes. It has pretty sad ending as Metal Sonic shows signs of having the possibility of a redemption arc at the end but dies after saving other people's lives.

6) Sonic X

Season 1 & 2 may have had their problems. But there were great moments in between e.g. the Sonic & Helen episode, Rouge's friendship with Topaz and so on. Season 3 was an incredibly epic space voyage. Visiting other planets and exploring different cultures.

The budding romance of Tails and Cosmo. Breathtaking spaceship battles and fights against Aliens. Just fantastic all around. Its also had powerful emotional moments. Like the extinction of the Seedrians, Lucas & Earthia's backstory, Molly's sacrifice, the Metarex absorbing the humans and Cosmo's death.

5) Classic Sonic Series

The Classic Sonic Series has always had great games. Sonic Mania had astounding gameplay, sensational villains and an interesting plot.

4) (Live Action) Cinematic Sonic Movieverse

There has only been one movie so far. But it was remarkable. All the characters including Eggman were multi-dimensional, sympathetic and interesting. Considering Eggman is rarely shown as a sympathetic character. That's a pretty interesting twist on an old game villain. It also shows Sonic in a far more vulnerable and nervous character.

And honestly Movie Sonic is probably the most unique version of Sonic there is. Most versions of Sonic are super confident from the start. There are plenty of Evil / Jerkass versions of Sonic out there e.g. King Sonic, Fleetway Sonic, Scourge. But a Sonic who is actually shown to be weak and vulnerable with abandonment issues is pretty new. Showing Sonic being adopted by the Wachowski is pretty heartwarming.

We also see the Pachacamac and likely Tikal is alive too. Which I think is pretty fascinating. Pachacamac was already a great villain in Sonic Adventure 1. But now will we have the chance to see more of his character outside of flashbacks. And possibly even see him and Tikal interact with Knuckles.

Movie Sonic and Robotnik have an interesting rivalry and dynamic. But Filmento does a better job at explaining it than I do. So I will just end this with his video - watch?vPlk5B5tKqOA

3) Game Sonic Universe

Modern Sonic Games tend to range between good and bad. But I think even the most hated Sonic Games have their redeeming factors. Most people just like the exaggerate the negatives of series instead of being positive. Sonic 06 for example has a pretty good story if you ignore the somewhat glitchy gameplay.

Shadow the Hedgehog a multi branching paths in gameplay and story routes. Which helps keep the game interesting. And games like Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Adventure are still as awe inspiring as ever. Practically building the backbone of the entire franchise.

2) IDW Sonic Comics

IDW Sonic interesting new and interesting characters like Tangle and Whisper. It does a great job of showing the costs of war and how the Sonic characters adapted to deal with the events of Sonic Forces. Showing their maturity and leadership ability in a war torn world.

1) Archie Sonic Comics

And for the best continuity Archie Comics. Similar to the Boys TV series. This series puts a lot of focus on interactions between family members, friends and romances. Making the characters feel more human and 3 dimensional. It also focuses on expanding the world building. Setting up different cultures in the world. So the world feels more real and life like. It sets up politics, debates about monarchy, constitutions. I'm pretty sure Sonic at this point has the largest amount of different anthropomorphic species than any other series.

It adds new interesting characters like Monkey Khan, Hope Kintobor, Elias Acorn. It gives vast improvements to characters like Shadow and Silver. The Chaotix are turned from Comic Relief to multi dimensional characters lead by Knuckles. Previous forgotten SEGA characters like Mighty, Ray, Honey, Breezie, Nack, Bean, Bark and Professor Von Schlemmer get major roles and character development

It has incredible characters arcs. For example Tails Adventures, the Enerjak Arc, Secret Freedom Fights, New Mobotropolis, Iron Dominion, Moebius, Shadow Arc. Numerous great villains like Mammoth Mogul, Dr. Finitevus, Scourge, Ixis Naugus, Speedy, Jun Kun "Iron King", Regina Ferrum "Iron Queen", Snively Robotnik and so on.

It does a great job on making machines feel human and showing they have emotions of their own. Shard, Nicole and Omega are especially prominent examples. Showing they can develop as people and evolve past their initial directives. Shard and Nicole are even better than 102 Gamma in character development for machines. Nicole probably has the most character development of any character in the entire Sonic Media despite being an AI.

It takes bits and pieces from pretty much every bit of Sonic Media and puts them together into a functional world. That mixes fantasy & science fiction perfectly. There is something for everybody to like. It has Aliens, Advanced Machines, Magic, Ninjas, Underwater Kingdoms yet manages to keep the lore consistent for the most part. Which says a lot with so many different writers.
DynomiteX246 chapter 5 . 9/20/2020
This is something I was looking for. It’s shocking to see how little Archie/Fleetway stories there is. They really do have potential, plus run parallel with each other now that both are cancelled and now have fan continuations.

I have no problem with the characterization. Although I never really read the Fleetway comics at its entirety. But I would like to see elements from Fleetway’s universe to crossover later on. Cause things will get pretty crazy if that happens, I just know it.

A little rant, but I really don’t like the Babylon Rouges in the Archie comics, so seeing how Fleetway Sonic handles them was cathartic for me. And I never did got interested in Speedy due to his personality, but this story sort of redeemed him for me.

Man I have a lot to talk about in this story. I think we can continue this on Private messaging if you like.

But anyways, good story, look forward to how this story continues.
oliviacat11 chapter 5 . 4/4/2020
This. Fanfic. Is. So. Awesome! I've poked around every now and then trying to find Archie and Fleetway crossover, and haven't found much. This story is looking really good! I like how you write the characters' personalities, and, as far as I can remember, you're doing a good job keeping them in character! You make me like British Sonic(I don't like how much of a jerk he is in the comics). TBH, I found this fic while searching for the golden boi, but this is already a great story! With or without him, I'm enjoying this story! (Still can't wait for him to appear, though.)
You keep the action moving forwards, while including needed exposition. You don't have many errors with punctuation, typos, etc. If you like, I could point things out that need to be fixed. (Not sure if I can be a beta-reader yet, though. I think I'd need to be more active on the site. I haven't written any fics of my own yet. :p)
Keep writing! I can't wait to see what happens next in this story, and I look forward to seeing what other stories you will write!

The new chapter was an amazing as always and I’m in love with this story you should be proud of yourself for this
Shadoweyes of Thunderclan chapter 5 . 3/29/2020
Got to the new chapter 36 minutes after it posted, I’ve never been this early for something since ever.

I think the Archie characters are being a little mean to Fleetway Sonic there, not necessarily out of character, but still a little harsh. They backpedal a bit so that’s okay.

Fleetway Sonic, what you don’t say will only make people suspect you more, the best way to earn their trust is to be forthcoming, they might understand you better and be a little less judgmental.

Also “salt-hog”, ahahahahahahahaha! That’s the best thing that ever happened right there.

As for Archie Sonic, Mr. Wisdom here is dishing out advice like it’s cheap cigars. Easy to do when this is your second time dealing with the same situation, riding the hindsight train to 20/20 city XD

All seriousness though, excellent chapter and I can’t wait to see what’s in the box.

See ya!

Just a fix from last time.
FNASTaleTales of Emerset Island.
user chapter 4 . 3/22/2020
Here's a idea for a story kinda like this.
A character from the comics is in the universe of RockClones.
Other ideas: Fleetway canon version of Tales of Emerset Island.
A clone from RockClones is stuck in the comics
FNAS-Swap(FNASTaleTales of Emerset Island) with a comic character as the protagonist.
Shadoweyes of Thunderclan chapter 4 . 3/20/2020
*screeches in delight* A new chapter, yay!

Fleetway Sonic is already causing friction, good for him. It’s so like him to do that, I really appreciate this.

Archie Sonic looks close to giving up, now I know why Fleetway Sonic is here. He is the master of having bad times thrown his way, but he can still get back up again, even when the bad time is his own alter-ego. If anyone can get Archie Sonic’s butt in gear, it’s him.

Also, Fleetway Sonic, hiding your alter-ego is a Bad Thing (tm). It’s just gonna make things worse when you inevitably turn into him because that’s just how things are with you. Can’t wait to see how this bites you in the ass later *evil laughter*.

Also, when you put it that way, you never did specify what “powers” he was referring to, guess that’s my fault for jumping to conclusions, hehe.

All that being said, I love this chapter and I can’t wait to see more.

P.S.: COVID-19 had shut the entire state down. Lucky my job is one of the “essential” ones, I dunno what I was going to do if it wasn’t. Still healthy though, so that’s awesome! Hope you and your family are healthy too.
jr1550434 chapter 4 . 3/19/2020
Yahoo another chapter thank you so much and keeping doing a amazing job and I’m looking forward for more updates
Shadoweyes of Thunderclan chapter 3 . 3/8/2020
Another chapter! Woohoo!

This was a good chapter, even though it was mostly exposition. I can accept that because it sets things up for later.

Fleetway Sonic and Geoffrey’s little spat was super fun. A nice clashing of personalities.

Missing Chaos Emerald, that just makes me excited, but it’s bad news for the characters.

One little nit-pick though. In the Fleetway continuum, Fleetway Sonic was always fast, it was his speed that overloaded the machine which turned him blue, but he always had his speed.

All in all though, this was fun and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
jr1550434 chapter 3 . 3/8/2020
I’m so hyper excited for what happened next! And i can’t wait for fleetway super sonic to appear!
jr1550434 chapter 2 . 3/6/2020
Keep doing a great job and I can’t wait to see more as it goes
Shadoweyes of Thunderclan chapter 2 . 3/4/2020
Ever since I read the sonic comics, I have been DREAMING of a crossover like this. Unfortunately, no one else was, and I’m not good enough at writing to write what I wanted to read. Then today I stumbled upon this, and I was just so EXCITED! This is exactly what I wanted to read, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this.

I like that you used pre-retcon Archieverse for this, because f—- Ken Penders and his stupid lawsuit, this is the Archie that everyone wanted to see, not the retconned version. I look forward to seeing where you take this version of Archie.

Fleetway Sonic has a British accent, that is perfect in all the right ways. I’m hoping for some friction between him and the Archie cast because of his tendency to say things that are just plain mean, but isn’t that why we like him? He is legitimately a three dimensional character.

As for Fleetway Super Sonic, all I can say is go for it! Make it epic! Let it be a climactic showdown that we all want to see!

All in all though, this is a wonderful story, and I’m super excited to see where you go with it. It promises to be extremely entertaining.
