Mothron chapter 11 . 10/13/2023 Interestingly, the impression of the story is spoiled by the stupidities committed by Geralt during the battle, which for no reason other than the author's arbitrariness can not work. Hitting with a jump is nonsense that just doesn't work. The enemy will easily dodge it and impale you on the sword. Due to the lack of a fulcrum, you will not be able to change the direction of movement, and you will easily lose your balance if your attack is blocked or parried. Contrary to what one might assume, this will not make the attack stronger. You just drove yourself into a dead end for the sake of a predictable stupid blow from which it is easy to dodge, depriving yourself of the opportunity to evade a counterattack and losing a foothold. You can put the weight and strength of your whole body into a blow without leaving the ground and this will not make you vulnerable. Sword fighting is the search, creation and use of victory opportunities. The main advantage of fencing is its variability. The swordsman's skill allows him to create and use more opportunities to win. Fencing is a set of victory scenarios. If the enemy gets into their rhythm, he will lose. The experience and study of different styles of fencing allows you to realize and use more opportunities to win. Here I am talking not only about fencing, but also about fighting in general. But this is only half of the battle, you forgot that the enemy is not a straw scarecrow and will take advantage of the opportunities provided to him. So fencing is also about minimizing your own weaknesses, which the enemy can take advantage of. That's why a stupid jump attack won't work. A variety of flips and pirouettes will not work either. I know it looks cool, but it's a harsh reality. This is the essence of the fight that many miss. This has nothing to do with the "laws of another world" that justify some people who do not want to admit their ignorance. |
hqlord chapter 38 . 10/2/2023 Oh shit, here comes the cavalry! It's always a pleasure to find fanfiction that you can binge in one sitting. It's an added bonus that Geralt's depiction is so close to the source. I absolutely commend you on that! It's far too common to see him depicted as a boisterous braggart, rather than a reserved, experienced 100-year-old witcher, who's dealt with more nobility and conspiracies than any ordinary man. Another thing that I absolutely love is the use of more formal, archaic language. Almost all of the top Witcher fanfictions discard this in favor of a more contemporary, colloquial language, which personally shatters the immersion for me. |
Cyricist001 chapter 38 . 9/25/2023 Great chapter and it seems he's getting reinforcements. |
krzychu14x chapter 1 . 9/22/2023 This story is such a gem, it will get only much more interesting with Yennefer and Ciri looking for our wayward Witcher |
CRUDEN chapter 38 . 9/19/2023 To The North and to Valeryia |
TheRightPrice chapter 38 . 9/18/2023 It'd be interesting to see what the people of Westeros make of Ciri and Yen and their magics. |
