Reviews for While We Dwelt in Fear |

![]() ![]() ![]() A good story, all in all. I feel that it would have been all the more powerful if there had been no fey folk blood to give the Shire-bound characters peeks into the going-ons of the Fellowship, but overall is a relatively minor concern. Thanks for your effort to provide us readers with an enjoyable read. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh please, please write the last chapter! IF YOU DON'T...I'll find you... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh my dear Pearl Took! I am sitting here, having just finished this wonderful saga and I can't help but think that Professor Tolkien would approve of your telling of the Shire's side of the story. I was caught up by this story before I got through with the opening chapter and just had to keep reading it straight through, because to stop was painful. I hate having to close down the web browser at way too late at night because I had to be up for work in the morning, and I dove right back into it as soon as I got home from work and dealing with family things. Green Took eyes... fairy eyes. There is so much I want to say about this tale; which parts touched my heart and which parts made me weep and which parts made me cheer. But I'm so caught up in all those emotions that I just can't be analytical to save my life. Thank you for persevering and working through the difficult parts to give us this wonderful wonderful fic. I will never read the novels or see the film without remembering the fairy part of Pippin, and the family and forebears he comes from. Definitely going on my favorites list and also on my list to re-read very soon. |
![]() ![]() ![]() i love being able to know what pip is thinking when he's being tempted by the palantir. really creative and good work! |
![]() ![]() (Standing ovation.) Yay! Bravo! Bravo! O.O WOW I loved this story! (Reads it one hundred times over.) It was grand from beginning to end! I'm in total shock! Wow...! Oh, sorry, am I rambling? I liked your interpretation of Merry and Pippin's views through the journey. Fabulous! Fantastic! Wow! _ Sorry, rambling again. Anyways, good show, kudos to you! |
![]() ![]() Oh, goodness, I haven't reviewed this story yet! (kicks herself.) Boy, I'm addicted to this story! I love how you can get so much action and angst, and yet still keep the story at a clean 'G' rating. I love those writers. You and this FANTASTIQUE story are definately on my favorites list! Bravo! _ |
![]() ![]() ![]() *sniffle* perfect last line. Perfect. *wipes away tears* I'm so pround of you, taking this tru to the end! Pippin's parents' reactions were the best. If I were Lanti I would have screamed too! Cool cool cool! Aww you rock getting this done. All very well and good and AWESOME! *standing ovation* BRAVO! BRAVO! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ! *is speechless with excitement and runs on to next chpter* |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh my goodness, what a great way to finish this! "Pippin went down on one knee before him, drew his sword then held the hilt out to him. “This sword is sworn to the service of the High King, and I am his messenger and representative to the Shire. I offer this sword and myself to your service as well, as Thain of the Shire. Will you accept my service?” That choked me up. My dear, brave Ernil. How well you write him! “A moment, Merry, you go on ahead and check for snakes under the beds.” Pippin winked at Merry who shook his head while rolling his eyes. “The lad’s a knight and still wants me looking under the bed for him,” Merry chuckled as he and Saradoc left together. And there he is, my beloved trickster! How wonderful you write the relationship between Merry and Pippin! "Esmeralda Took Brandybuck looked up into Peregrin Took’s warm smile. In both pair of green eyes, the stars were dancing." What a lovely ending! Thank you so much for such a wonderful tale. I can't say enough about it, so I'll just have to settle for my humble praise. much love, your friend, Pipkin |
![]() ![]() ![]() I can always tell when a story is a success. If it leaves you wanting more, the writer has done a great job. This tale is an unqualified success, my dear Pearl. Thank you so very much for all your hard work, and know I understand how hard a job a long tale is, as Teriadoc can affirm. This is your baby, and you cared for it well. It has grown up beautifully into a wonderful story which addresses much of what the Master only hinted at. Well done, my friend! Rest now from this labor of love... and then write us some more wonderful stories. I always believed in you and my faith in you, my dear friend, is completely vindicated! Behold Pearl Victorious! I bow to you. much love, Pipkin |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh! My! Lord! I've often thought about how this might have played out and this...well, it certainly fills a gap, does it not? I'm amazed. This was well turned and appropriately shocking for this horror of an act. I can't paise you enough. "But now, well . . . the Men fouled the piles. Grima did not know that Saruman had ordered them to do so." Amazingly well thought out! '“You would like that bowl of stew yourself wouldn’t you, my dear Grima.” The Voice was low. The Voice was soft. The Voice and the bowl of stew were the only things in the world. Grima nodded. “There is a way for you to have the bowl of stew all for yourself. Shall I tell you the way, my good Grima?” Grima nodded. “The little one inside has no need of the knife, my dearest Grima. He has no need for the knife.” The Voice. The Stew. “See, there is only the slice of bread, not a loaf. There is nothing to spread upon the bread. The little one has no need of the knife, Grima, my old friend.” The Voice. The Stew. The Knife.' Fantastic, and deliciously creepy! This is freaking brilliant! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This chapter is dark with flashes of bright hope. I like that. It shows a sense of balance, yet is appropriately dark. Another triumph! And with that...on to the next chapter! |
![]() ![]() ![]() *chews nails* more? There will be more real soon, right? You're doing such a fantastic job of updating, why stop? I love this story, as I have said, many times before, but it is fantastic and will only get better to the end. Tall, strong Knights Merry and Pippin will return and save the day! Heyah! *runs away waving a hobbit sword at all who cross my path* |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love this chapter! Very well written, exellent dialogue and pace. I paticularly liked Pippin back-sassing Elrond. I can hardly wait until the next one...HURRY! |
![]() ![]() ![]() You know, I never thought I'd say this, but I admire Lobelia. That took a lot of courage. She's come to her senses, it seems, and paid the price for it. What a blow it must have been to her. Now she knows she's been so wrong for such a long time, and for that she's been imprisoned, as surely she must have guessed she would, though perhaps not. What a chapter! I have to read the next one, right now! |
