Now this is some dark stuff. I like it. Especially because it doesn't pull punches towards either Janeway or Q. It could be argued convincingly that Q wasn't getting things across quite seriously enough, and Janeway... well, just Janeway.

Wow. That was so dark, and brilliant. Janeway's perspective was great and fully in character. This story is extremely well-written and inventive. Wow.

Hm, how did I miss this series the first time around? Reading on and enjoying it!

For those who have asked to see more set in this universe- I've just uploaded a story in the TOS section, since it deals with Kirk, called "Te Morituri Salutamus", which is a companion piece to this, and offers a slight hope.

Vivid, powerful, and haunting. Your Janeway is EXACTLY as the character would be in that situation: bitter, guilty, and fiercely driven. The portrayal of post-space humanity is the stuff of nightmares. (Had one, in fact. I love your stuff, but this is the LAST time I read any of your stories last thing before bedtime! Made the same mistake with classic TZ, once...)

This is an excellent story. Please continue. The sad part is when we're so close to what you've written. The even sadder part is that some countries are already there.
