some more suggestions and to ned i say all except bolton, rysewll and barbrey dustin born ryswell the north loved him so while not a great lord overall great military leader and capable administrator and he was the second son never taught to rule the north there is a youtube video of why catelyn stark is the most terrible character ned gives her some instructions on how to prepare the north she never does them because she ran into tyrion and was already thinking of ignoring ned to visit her father

ned discovers his magic it would at basis be similar to your story about the magic bowl if lord tarly who worships the 7 and lives in the reach can get a warlock so can ned have him brew his magic wine using weirwood sap for green magic and maybe learn other forms of magic the sorcerer of the north could inspire the faith militant to rise again
another idea while in the black cells ned discovers warging learns one of his neighbours is a faceless man during his execution the desire to escape wargs him into jaqen whose mental state as no one means ned has total control using these skills ned decides to remove everyone he thinks is a threat such as cersei tywin the mountain
Slytherin66 chapter 1 . 10/18/2020
An excellent story.

A squid on land very apt. A good point why let Robb act like and Ironborn they are not liked or respected.

Well said about the faith of the 7 it does not belong in the north and the 7 as an institution seems ineffective and lacking in many aspects.

A good detail to mention tooth powder such details add depth and dental care would be an issue. Better to have good teeth or no teeth than bad teeth.

Very true about Ned’s wife she is nasty and small minded, not my point but others pointed out her and her sister caused much of the harm in the tv series. Those who work for the Starks would not have been impressed with his wife. I really liked her fate in this story and it achieved much, so many problems avoided.

Ned would be wise to marry a lady of the North someone with sense who can make good decisions for him. Stump is a fantastic word to describe Ned, in the series, the actor who plays him gives him presence and style yet as a character he is flawed. A good point about why nobody seeks out aid or advice for the head of the Starks.
What was done with the broken tower was clever.

I always liked Ser Barriston, a pity he went as he would have been more useful helping Jon and others.

Jon was wise to know when to keep a low profile and keep his ears open, he usually lacked the power of a name or birth to help him overcome his weaknesses. The master of whispers was very powerful by keeping his ears open to gossip.

I am glad Jon kept the killers gold hidden and that he was dealt with. Bran deserved an easier life than the one he usually has.

Life will be easier in the North now Ned won’t be leaving, for the king not so much the minstrels and Raven’s will be very entertaining. I wonder who will inherit the throne and the Rock now. How the Queen and her brother were discovered will be tricky to deny or explain.

Commonplace book is a great term and idea.

Very true that the war was won but the cost and suffering were considerable for so many the Starks especially.

Well done with Littlefinger and the would be Bolton heir. Riverrun should fall, Lysa and her boy gone is a bonus.

A good point about the Hand of the King what good was he as the realm fell to ruin and debt.

Being fostered to a great House seems to be important and useful yet many of the houses seems inept and untrustworthy. So being fostered by them seems like nothing but trouble long term, although its handy for the few who are capable.

Job outgrowing where he was is true he outgrew the Watch quickly in the series and did not have the sense to just leave.

A good question who killed the mother dire wolf.

Jon is wise to accept the gold when offered, Ned would be too noble but Tywin would want his debts settled. One less thing to deal with.

Tyrion I think was killed off his father would want things simple and under control with his remaining family. I liked Tyrion but as the series progressed he went form sly and capable to foolish and making poor decisions.

The iron bank always fascinated me I do wonder how the bank will be paid now and what they make of the unsettled realm. Soon there will be a force even the iron bank will be afraid of.

Valyrian shields and armour very handy.

Finding out about the Doom was very informative.

It makes sense for there to be egg storage and means to hatch them. The world is a more interesting place with Dragons in it. A good question how to sustain a dragon and manage them.

I am pleased there are items salvaged from after the doom.

Aemon able to interact with a family member and a dragon was nice, he is such an interesting character.

The Watch are unreliable, Jon is better off without them and the Free Folk are a much better group.

It’s good to see Benjin he was very underutilised in the series.

A brilliant description of the king. "Baratheon fondled everything that would let him. Fathered children while still a child himself, refused to acknowledge any of them.”

Mance I liked, his people got a bad deal in the series, they did so much fighting for little pay off.

Having known parents and lots of dragons will make getting things done so much easier for Jon. Tyrion would have come out with a quote to end an argument use steal to end all arguments use dragons.

Asking Bran to travel beyond the wall was like asking Harry Potter to fight and kill the Dark Lord, too much for someone too young.

The 3 eyed raven having a dragon egg was a nice detail to have.

Ned answering his nephew with “Ah” is as expected for him a nice line.

I wonder if respect of dragons is part fear, part awe and part ingrained respect for who the dragons serve.

Tywin held the crown in all but name its fitting he should be the one to end the current King, Robert the hopeless perhaps.

I liked what was done to the throne.

How Robb was dealt with was a bonus, his character ruined a whole season for me, he just was not interesting or capable enough.

The Watch were a useful treat and tool to deal with the undesirable the world will need better forms of justice now.

Great ending harsh is more fitting for the world, more were spared and suffering reduced.

Thanks for posting this, complete, a most enjoyable read

An awesome return! I hope you will write a sequel to The House of Potter Rebuilt. I also hope you will write more frequently!

You haven’t seen a finished gamer fic for GoT? I struggle to think of a finished gamer fic of any kind. I’ve read a lot of gamer fics recently, and I think the core weakness is that the author never really has a goal in mind. They have fun writing about the character abusing the game rules for a few chapters, then realize that they have no real plan and that they don’t have any motivation for the characters and give up.

Not so here! I’m not surprised that the wonderful mind that crafted The House of Potter Rebuilt could turn out probably the best (and possibly the only complete) gamer fic. I really enjoyed this from start to finish, thanks for sharing it!

Awesome one shot story!
claydon chapter 1 . 10/17/2020
Thank you for writing this story. I found it very interesting since it captured my attention. Wonderful to have something else to think about when I am sick. The fact that he found thousands of dragons/swords felt very unrealistic. That seemed to be too easy, not much catharsis.
Rubicon373 chapter 1 . 10/16/2020
that was awesome

would like to see Danny's reaction to all this, also an epilogue
