OH GOD here we are again, another chapter to review and more panic to ensue? Sounds about right to be honest. Hi Em, welcome to my reviews - I always wonder if they're boring or not but I'm writing them anyway ig so here we are.

Bronte - GURL I WAS SHIT SCARED OKAY DON'T EVEN. Tbh I've been struggling to get behind the Bronte hype but this chapter? I WAS SOLD! First of all, I'm glad she left and stopped being a pawn for Vanya, I feel like her Games arc can really begin to develop and I wonder how that's going to go for her. The tensions, mixed with the appearance of Alex just made it all the more scary to ready, but I was more than ready for it. Can't wait to see more of her escapades!

Alex - She's the main event this chapter...because she's the target. There were a lot of points that you described Alex and her need to hide from other tributes as well as the paranoia and worry setting in about other tributes and they way they interacted with her/looked for her. I wasn't much of a fan of Alex, but I did root for her a bit because she's kind of turned over a little bit of a leaf after killing Nieve and she has to remember to be better.

Vanya/Eden - These two...always the drama, but I love it. There's still a sense of tension that neither or them are discussing but what came out of this is that they're better fighting alone than together. So I guess they have some kind of truce? Vanya went hunting on that rooftop and istg she almost found Alex and didn't. Eden with her broken arm isn't looking too fabulous right now, so I wonder how that will turn out.

Gionessa - UGH I love them and I can't express it enough. Soft!Gio and QueenBee!Vanessa honestly get the biggest props from me. They're both going about chasing Rylan so differently, hell, about killing differently. I get Gio's hesitance, because morals but I also get Vanessa's need to hurry it up - I mean, it's play the game or die, basically and that's the tea. The sweet moment at the end with her crying on him made me feel bad for her - it gives her multiple layers and Gio too, has to remember what life is worth and if it's worth defending Vanessa.

Matt/Bear - Another duo I adore ;-; Honestly these two always feel so wholesome but it's Matt this time who feels like the failure. Honestly I guess protecting a murderous smol during a murder game is probably not the most fun and yet he's doing it anyway. In a weird way I respect that. I think he's beginning to come around to the idea of hurting others when he was so adversed to it before since him vs Lior was a thing. Bear is just the cutest.

Lior - This dude, I love the snarky nature he's got but he's stuck in one place after he lost Moe and he got into some action this chapter. Still I don't think much will come from him hiding or running so I'm interested to see what happens to him going forwards.

Rylan - Ah, such a darling and a near miss for him as well, he's nearly been cooked in the pantry and now stabbed in the kitchen, so I wonder how many lives this guy has and if he can keep outrunning the others long enough to live. He's so wholesome and I feel bad that he hasn't allied with anyone but I have a slight feeling that him and Emile may end up as a duo soon enough.

Logan/Remy - I get that there were a few words said about Remy in this chapter and how some were wishing he'd fall instead of Logan, which is a valid point but I definitely disagree. I think there's a Alex vs Remy situation that's been set up here and I love it, because it makes sense. Remy never trusted Alex to begin with and Alex feels betrayed by Remy, so it'll make for an iconic showdown if things go that way. I shall miss Logan! He was sweet and stirred a feeling in Remy, but will his death leave him just as empty as he was before?

Ellie - I was a little disappointed that she was kind of blaming Emile before, but she's valid and she feels abandoned and I totally vibe with that. I think she would have been better off with an ally but hey here she is with a bloody arm. I don't know what will happen to her really, since she was hurt but I don't know what kind of a direction I see her going in. Will she forgive Emile? Will she not?

Emile - This smol bean is ruminating and hating himself and all the painful things and honestly I hate that for him. Yet, at the same time, there's a realisation here and it's that in a game like this you can only really trust yourself and I think Emile is realising that - just because someone's kind to you, it doesn't mean it's always going to work out.

Giovanni/Vanessa: these peeps are quickly becoming my favorite duo. I do sense cracks starting to form in their alliance though, especially with that ending line. It’s a very interesting direction you’re taking them in, Gio getting more direct in his actions whilst Vanessa is starting to distance herself. Perhaps Vanessa won’t be the evident ‘leader’ for much longer!

Ellie: she got injured? Idk if I missed that last chapter, or if we didn’t find out about it until now. What I do know is that miss thing has to stop blaming Emile for literally everything ever. Sure, he was frozen in place for a few seconds, but wasn’t that exactly what Ellie was doing during the bloodbath? I’m probably very biased, but hey, I’m a protective dad.

Vanya/Eden: there were some super interesting things said about their relationship here. I especially liked Eden’s reflecting over being an assassin, and how it’s a solo venture. Sure, she might have known Vanya for a long time, but they’ve never worked together. Still, they can’t leave each other now that they’ve “made up”. Stop being so wholesome.

Bronte: I think she made the right decision, personally. Vanya might have liked keeping her around, but she’s always going to choose Eden I the end - Bronte was the expandable one, which I’m glad she realized before it was too late. With that said, now that they know she’s on the run, I fear what might happen if she’s found. She best be good at hide n’ seek.

Also also also, the way Bronte was a total badass in her encounter with Alex! I’m so proud.

Lior: relatable content. I would also rather drop dead than use a leg press, but I suppose that quickly does change when you’re in a survival situation like this one. His bravery has to be admired, swinging at two people like that takes more than a little courage, but it was also not the smartest move ever. 2v1 was never going to turn out well. Glad he got away.

Matthew/Bear: they’re so precious. I agree with that Lior said though, assuming a room is empty from a single glance is not what this situation calls for. At least they didn’t come face to face with any assassins (aka Vanya/Eden) or monsters (aka Alex). But fighting someone like them might have been better for Matty’s peace of mind. Please don’t feel bad :sob:

Rylan: boy threw himself head-first into a fight, and he did so well! He seems to have done a lot of growing since The Cut formally started, from how he handled the outcome. He seems to have done a lot of growing since the previous day alone. “He’s not as scared as he should be.” That’s a good thing. I just hope it doesn’t make him do something reckless.

Giovanni/Vanessa (pt. 2): the way they’ve become so protective over each other is adorable!

Vanya/Eden (pt. 2): hunting Alex on the roof, eh? How interesting :eyes:

Emile: THIS SHIT HURT SO BAD! Geez Em, talk about a gut-punch. I absolutely hate that Emile is letting Ellie get to him like this, even if it isn’t necessarily her intentions. He’s been put so many times already, it’s hard to see it happen all over again, especially after everything he did to boost himself in prison. It’s time to build yourself a new pedestal, Emile.

Remy/Logan: my best boys. It was neat that we got to see different sides to each of them in this chapter, Remy’s struggle in dealing with someone who’s dying, and Logan’s conflictedness with them not having killed Rylan when they had the chance. I liked that both aspects, Logan’s especially came to the forefront in their battle with Alex. He will be so missed!

Alexandra: I don’t care if people think she’s the redemption queen now, I’m nothing if not stubborn. She might have showed a softer side lately, but that doesn’t erase everything she’s done before. I appreciate that she’s a well-crafted characters and that she hasgood layers, but I can’t ignore what made me dislike her in the first place. I’ll die on this hill, fight me.
