Reviews for A Growing Understanding
atymer chapter 9 . 9/25
I always find it fascinating how much Dumpy never was truly repentant for the grooming he did of the children of the wizarding world. My personal opinion was he was as deadly has Gellert and Voldy, only he destroyed hopes and dreams sending the future to stagnation and ruin. He remained true to every despot that had come before him. I know best, do what I say!
This story exposes so much, I felt it resonated with the canon character. All that twinkling and eccentric behavior peeled away for the rot to be seen.

Kudos to the author.
Ophis-The-Infinite-Dragon-God chapter 11 . 9/15
I really loved the Granger family in this, it's such a shame they pretty much vanished by the wayside as soon as they were back in Britain. You wrote them incredibly well.
Guest chapter 5 . 9/12
Who cares about minor mistakes as long as the stories are readable. If others want perfection let them write themselves and see how perfect they are.
HJB chapter 1 . 8/28
great start
20000 WPM chapter 10 . 8/19
I really enjoyed your story. Thanks for sharing.
maiqsmail chapter 8 . 8/18
Dumbles says HP has to die to make Riddle mortal? But HP already told him that the scar horcrux has been dealt with. Then why, exactly, he has to die? Even prophecy doesn't say he has to die, just to kill.
maiqsmail chapter 4 . 8/18
Mixed signals here.
First, obscenely cartoonish villains in that small meeting of the Flaming Chicken Order.
Then, Minerva actually listened to Hermione? Albus wondered why HP wasn't treated properly after the Basilisk?
I actually expected the cartoonish villainly to proceed, him blasting Minerva with obligation or something, you know. But he seems to be not that evil, just very misguided. Very. Suspiciously so. Snape has him on strict potion regiment by any chance? Intriguing.
maiqsmail chapter 3 . 8/18
Ah, here was *this* moment. They excavated a whole dumptruck of shit that was done to them and still have to return to Britain. At least the reason is somewhat believable? "We were contracted to go there".
Anyway, "because magical contract says so" - slap this bitch and we're good, right? Good ol' 3WT Goblet of Fire all over again. I understand that as an author of fanfiction, the setting pretty much doesn't exist long-term outside Hogwarts, but they could've at least get a second opinion from some lawyer or something, you know? Unknown assailant was/is after then and documented years wide application of potions, confusions, obliviations... They really couldn't claim asylum because of that, really? They just nod and roll with that?
If there isn't a fucking outrage in media because of that when they'll return to Britain and it'll get get hush-hushed, I'll riot!
maiqsmail chapter 1 . 8/18
Yeah, I had to look it up, Hermione getting hospital wing while Ronald getting St Mungo is a fanon. In canon they're both in hospital wing and it is unclear whether they visited St Mungo before that.
erstwhile-S chapter 10 . 7/24
Excellent story, which I enjoyed reading again. Thanks!
peggy77 chapter 10 . 6/28
That was an excellent story. Thank you for sharing it.
peggy77 chapter 8 . 6/28
Snape got what he deserved. I know that there are a LOT of HP fans that just adore Snape and constantly talk about how he is only the git he is because of his abusive father and the Marauders but how does that explain his treatment of Neville?
peggy77 chapter 3 . 6/27
Aww, they're going from being best friends to falling in love. That's so sweet. My husband and I were best friends for four years before we realized we were in love. We were married for 40 wonderful years before he died just five months ago. I think the best marriages start with being best friends. 3
Pointer3109 chapter 3 . 6/4
I think I'd have Mom scanned, too. On general principles.
jada951 chapter 7 . 5/26
