Reviews for The Guise of Family |

![]() ![]() ![]() One of the best fics. Little slow but worth the time. Any plans of next instalment? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Great story! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next story of the set. There is one aspect of the Usurper's victory that could prove troubling: Where will the Usurper go now? If he returns to the island, then Hogwarts has lost a potentially powerful defender, but if he stays then the island loses one of its defenders. This is even more problematic given that, of the Hoo-hoos, the Protector and the Usurper, only the snake can directly communicate with anyone. Things I'm hoping to read in the next story: the freeing of Sirius, the identity of Brandt's betrothed, the Wormtail revelation, what happens when the two kids encounter a Dementor. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Regarding this chapter 's AN: ummm, about that comment about Dippet being 350 years oldthat being too long for a wizard to live... points over to NicholasPerenelle Flamel Tell them that, ok? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Completely binged the entire fic. Please keep writing. I hope to see the sequel soon . |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love this! I wish we didn't have to deal with Hogwarts or wizards in general. Nearly the whole time I read this chapter I heard Funny Monkey For 10 Hours on repeat. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is one of the very few slow-paced stories that has been a real pleasure to read. You are a writer that can definitely capture their audience - word for word. Very good so far. That said... a new house? Every time I have seen this done the story's quality dipped from 'meh' to 'can't drop this fast enough' . I really hope that this one will be the exception. The main thing that has to be taken into account is this: is what you are doing just a gimmick or does it actually add something to the story? I really hope that you have actually given thought to this and will make me eat my words in the future chapters. |
![]() ![]() ![]() cannot wait for more, was quite a good story. And I could see your writing improve as you went along. Good job! |
![]() ![]() Actually, according to J.K. Rowling, even *IF* a new student doesn't have Hufflepuff's qualities, all new students who don't really fit into any of the other houses, will be sorted into Hufflepuff by-default. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like long stories. This one has many chapters but nearly nothing happens. If JKR did the same the first book would be over 1.000 pages long. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hot sauce up your nose while slapping yourself with a fish... I think the last time zlI giggled so much at an unusually descriptive phrase, it was while reading Douglas Adams. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Commenting on the autograph lesson: I don't know how it works with film or sports celebrities, but NASCAR drivers at a certain level of popularity actually are sent to classes to learn how to develop and perfect their signature. Autographs on merchandise look nothing like their signature on legal documents. I'm guessing you have experience with this quirk of fame to get such an obscure detail correct! I'm reading this story for the first time, and so far am enjoying your style, development, and attention to minor details. Looking forward to the rest of this one and more of your work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() thanks for the story, it made for an interesting read. there were times I wondered whether you dropped some of the plot in-between or if you made the characters forget on purpose.. looking forward to the sequel :) and all the best to you and your soon to be expanded family! :) |
![]() ![]() Congratulations on finishing this story and more importantly, congratulations on your upcoming daughter! Thank you for sharing |
![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for that: quite a novel take on Harry. I hope that you'll write the sequel at some point: you've rather left Sirius' fate hanging. |
![]() ![]() I rarely review. I've been reading HP fanfic for 20 years. This story is remarkable, and worth all the affirmation and encouragement an anonymous review can give. (And you're quite right - parenting is the next great adventure - and the adventure grows with the arrival of each child.) Best wishes for the birth of your daughter. I'll be watching out for your next fanfic installment. |
