Whew. I had to go back and reread a lot to remember where we are in this story. So compelling, so sad. Yet with this chapter we begin to see a glimmer of hope. Hope for Chuck to survive; hope for Sarah to find something better than the cold, bitter, loneliness; hope for the trust between them to find a way to save the day.

Some really great use of canon lines and situations gently worked into this narrative, without it just being a rehashing of old material.

Hey Joe, thanks for coming back to update this story. So, this is Chuck & Sarah on the run from the bunker and Fulcrum? Too bad Decker is not dead yet and besides Bryce and maybe Ellie, how many familiar characters will they run into? Things started out pretty bleak for Chuck but now his future seems to be looking up and hopefully Piranha will come out and play. Looking forward to your next update of this any other stories.

Very interesting road trip chapter good thing that Chuck dont have nightmares but give it time it would come back just please dont make them like Thelma and Louise :). And hope to se whole CATs minus Amy of course.

A lot of car changes! Makes sense, I can’t imagine how hard it would be to stay hidden in today’s world.

Road trip! This ride through the country has provided Chuck and Sarah to become familiar with each other at a fairly leisurely pace. No bad guys showing up yet so they have been able to form impressions of each other without a lot of additional stress. And both seem favorably impressed. Their first stressful situation on this lam will be when they have to find a motel to stay at and share a room. Bring on that stress!

I am totally enjoying this story, and am looking forward to the next update.

The problem with using the Uncle Ben quote is that I then think of Aunt May, which then then brings to mind the latest iteration in Marisa Tomei, which then makes me think of…what was I talking about?
For two people on the run from basically the whole world, repeatedly committing grand larceny, this story is starting to feel lighthearted. Until you think about the platypus venom tinged torture. Amazing how distinct from Matchmaker this is, yet just as well written.

Question, how awkward do you want the clothes shopping to be? So one in this store could say something about them being a married couple. Or if they are forced to share a changing room. Are they going to give each other style tips like , Chuck gives Sarah tips on how to dress like he would and she does the same for him? I am not saying cross dressing or anything like that but like some nerdy clothes for her and something else for him.

Although not a lot of action or movement in this chapter, it’s an important stage setting chapter. Sarah and Chuck are feeling things out with this new situation and changing locations. I am interested how things develop from here. I have the distinct feeling that a SHTF moment is on the horizon. I look forward to the next chapter.

You are really back on track with this story. I enjoyed it so much back when you first started it. I was worried that you had moved on. This chapter is really setting up everything well. I can't wait to see more. Now my problem is I also really want to read more of Serenity too, and I am hoping that you will someday get back to Return to Me as well. I don't ask for much do I!
Thanks for keeping this story going though. It is really good. Sarah is great here. She is very professional but also very human. Chuck is more complex and that is better as well.

And the trip continues. Like how there working together and she is answering his questions. The slight manipulation about getting him to work with them, but I get it. Good update. Thanks for sharing.

Their run starts their partnership. She fully believes they are partners, a better partnership than her others. He finds it hard to believe, but he trusts her, no one else, just her. He is clearly falling for this beautiful blonde assassin. She is embarrassed at him finding out about her past with the CATS and wonders how much of her past he knows and does seem to realise the spell she has cast over him. So, arriving in Seattle to find a place to stay once they have different clothes. Where next after that? Looking forward to more of this great story. Thanks for this great story, Joe.
