This is a pretty long yet detailed first chapter that sets the tone for what’s to come. I do like the breakdown on characters’ thoughts as well as the process of being a Pokemon trainer in Kanto. It makes the characters and the environment lively. It’s also a nice idea to write about the two trainers who got their starters before Ash woke up, and I’ve always wished they were more fleshed out in the anime and not just a footnote.

I believe you’re off to a real good start and have the groundwork for a really compelling story. Keep at it, I’m interesting in seeing what happens next.
