It would have been far more amusing if Draco had actually gotten the last syllable out, but missed because Harry is smart enough to dodge, only for the AK to hit Ron instead.

Fiendfyre might not be as hot as molten rock, but it supposedly also has magic-destroying properties, so magma might not be a good substitute for it.

A vastly more amusing way to deal with Snape has to do with an interesting fact of the apprentice-journeyman-master system. An apprentice is one in service to a master, to learn a craft. A journeyman is someone who is competent to practice that craft without supervision, but there's more to being a master than just being recognized as skilled enough to be better than a journeyman - to become a master, a journeyman MUST not only be able to train apprentices, they must be WILLING to. Someone who refuses to train apprentices, or students, to the point they sabotage lessons? That person has violated the terms under which they were issued their mastery, and can be stripped of that mastery!
