I didn't know if I should post this here, or in the last chapter in book 1 since that was completed, and I doubt you'll respond to anyone there anymore.

But since part of my decision of dropping this is here, then here I go.

Honestly, reasons I'm dropping this because there are no changes. Aside from Azula losing sleep and some internal monologues that led to nothing at all... What changed in the story? Nothing at all.

And you say that Percy won't be a 'main character' and won't be really THAT involved in taking down the Fire Nation... Then why write this story? What's the point of throwing an End of Series MC like Percy and have him change nothing at all? Just to make Azula gud and bang her?

You might as well just write a post-series AU with him helping Azula after the war, and it'd have been more interesting

Nearly 140k word of nothing changing isn't really good.

You talk about relationships and how good ATLA writing is but I think you're just seeing it through nostalgia glasses. Sure, it's better written show than most cartoons, but it has a lot of flaw too, especially after Book 2. And the comics are even worse. They redeem fucking Kuvira and yet Azula who was a kid and that deserved a chance at redemption became a 0.50$ comic book villain.

Romance was certainly really, really badly written too in general in the show. Ugh, the Katara and Aang relationship...

Yeah, trying to build the relationships in a realistic way without rushing is good... but the events SHOULD change... We have a Boss level character roaming around doing NOTHING... You might as well have him watch the show, then get sent to Avatar world after the war like I mentioned before where he helps healing Azula and redeem her.

You say that Percy isn't insignificant, but... he is? I mean you said it yourself that he won't be involved much in taking down the Fire Nation. Nothing he did changed anything.
We know that the war ends up with everything working out and no one of importance really die and all of them get their happy ending... Well, except for Azula, so aside from Percy making Azula his girlfriend and she doesn't get the same ending... What's the point of him again?

At this point I won't be surprised if everything go down the same and Azula break again and only towards the VERY end that suddenly have a change of heart, maybe with Percy snapping her out of her madness then they get together... the end.

Here in this chapter it's just... Is this even Percy anymore? He sees a war with a bunch of kid being forced to fight and he's "I'll only fight if I have to"... Doesn't sound like him. Sure, he'd not like to fight after everything he went through, but imo he still won't hesitate to fight in these circumstances... He certainly has the power to speed up the end of the war. Him not doing anything put every death on his shoulders.

And there is a TRAGEDY Tag now... Yeah... Not interested in that.

god i can already see how hard Azula's journey for peace is going to be, and i use peace on purpose because in my opinion at this point in her story she doesn't need redemption...not yet, her entire life has been controlled by a fear of her father that she didn't know she had and its only after interacting with percy that the barest glimpse of a life that could be, a life where she gets to choose and have people love and care for her. however Ozai wont let her go easily, thats why her journey is going to be so much harder than Zuko. and i just hope Percy can help her when she needs him the most.

Really excited to see where you’ll go with this and now I can be along for the whole ride.

Amazing! Love it how Percy was willing to fight but only when necessary, and how he did his best to make sure no one, not even the Fire Nation soldiers die. Keep it up!

I can understand Percy not wanting to fight and be in a war but I don’t see him shying away from it when he sees what the kids are in. In the books Percy is someone who would stand up against bullies as seen with the constant fights he got into that got him expelled from school and his dislike for Aries. So the idea that Percy wouldn’t stand up against a “bully” like the Fire Nation that has plunged the world into war and has killed and imprisoned am innumerable amount of people is far fetched.

Holy crap this was an excellent chapter! Love that we got Percy just using his powers so casually now! I really hope that Mai can turn Zuko! Oh, the Ty Lee/Azula/Percy love triangle is going to be crazy! I can't wait. The whole stealth mission was excellent and I'm happy that Percy can lead again! Hakoda is scared of Percy and that's great! Your choice to have Sokka kill the soldier was excellent! I think that it'll allow for him and Percy to bond and to solidify Percy as a mentor figure. I am really excited to see where you take this story and how big of a difference Percy is going to make. Because this is really where the divergence starts. The catacombs essentially ended the same way as in canon, aside from the characters mentally being in different places, so I cannot wait to see how the new arc will play out. I think right off the bat we'll see a change in Sokka. He'll probably be a bit withdrawn in whatever fight comes next and will probably be put in a scenario where he might have to kill whoever he's fighting but doesn't because of this. Someone will save him (Percy) and talk to him about how sometimes killing is unavoidable. Then someone (Suki, Katara, Aang) will be in a situation where Sokka can save them but has to kill whoever to do it. And he does. Boom. Sokka gets over his fear and comes back as a stronger fighter and strategist. If you have thought of something like this then I am happy my prediction could be right. Also, feel free to use this in any way if it fits. I know that was a lot but it was just something I thought of after reading the scene. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Good start looking forward to the next chapter. Hopefully this won’t end in tragedy as your genre label seems to suggest.
