SpaceEngineerPeanut chapter 22 . 7/13/2022 I'm sad to see the series end, but it was quite a ride. Thank you very much! |
KittyKat06 chapter 21 . 12/26/2021 The dinner with the eight of them together was fantastic and I wished that scene had gone on longer! I'm so glad that Leland took the promotion and I imagine TK is equally as relieved :) I knew he wouldn't be able to get out of the game entirely, hah, of course he'll still be invovled in homicide cases. But now that he's not as invovled in the day-to-day, like Natalie said to Monk later, he'll be in a better position to ease himself into retirement in a few years. When Leland thanked Monk for what he did for him and said the hardest thing he [Leland] did was lying in his hospital bed wondering if Monk was going to survive, all I could think about was how full-circle that moment was from everything that happened in "On The Run." OTR showed how Leland put his life, his career on the line for Monk to keep him safe, and now you had Monk return the favor here. Great callback and great job with that :o) I'm also glad that Randy took the promotion that Leland offered him! The gang's all back together and working together again! Yay! (Randy and Washington working together will definitely be an experience. LOL. Poor Monk :p.) As for the conclusion to the Ryan/Sophia storyline I had to think about it for awhile. Hm. While I can come to a lot of different conclusions as to the reasoning why Ryan moved away and had his sister deliver the paperwork and have that conversation with Monk for him, I don't like that he did and I don't like it that he gave up his parental rights (though I understand that, too.). Giving up his paternal rights, moving away so he won't be under the temptation to see Sophia, it makes sense to me. Ryan told Monk/Natalie all along that he wasn't trying to take custody from them but it seemed like Natalie/Monk never quite believed him, so maybe this will help. I do hope that Monk/Natalie will do the right thing and send Ryan the yearly letters he's requesting and even pictures, and maybe in the future Sophia will be able to communicate with Ryan herself or meet him. Will Sophia get to know her biological aunt? I liked Tracy. I wondered, too, if Ryan is angry at Hannah. She's dead and that's awful, but she lied to him and denied him his child. |
GR8Catch chapter 22 . 12/9/2021 This was wonderful! Entertaining and a great mystery! I love our Monks! |
alex hoodle chapter 22 . 12/5/2021 This Was Absolutely Gorgeous, Every Bit Of It. I Ate It Up. It's Helped Me Through Some Heartbreaking Times. Thank You |
idablue04 chapter 22 . 12/4/2021 I have tears. I am so going to miss this series. Although I enjoy some of the others, this one is so, so special. Monk has matured and is shown in a way that I never would have fully seen in him. Although I knew the depth of his love and devotion for Trudy, seeing this with Natalie and his children is something awe inspiring. The love and commitment they share is one that is not often seen. Again, I'm going this series so much, but it ends with happily ever after. Happy holidays to all! |
alex hoodle chapter 21 . 12/3/2021 Monk's Got It All, A Sizzling Romance, The World's Best Bromance, Adorable Babies(And Maybe Another One Because...Whoa) Any Other Man Would Be Jealous For Sure. Hayes Stuck To His Word, I Just Wished He Looked Monk In The Eye Like The Man He Seemed To Be While He Gave Adrian The Results Himself, Disappointed In The Character's Choice. Great Job! |
idablue04 chapter 21 . 12/3/2021 Sadly, I see this wonderful story coming to a close. Truly top notch. So commendable of Ryan to give up his parental rights. It does seem like he is trying to put his life in order. And hopefully the Monk's will let Sophia have some type of relationship with her biological family in time. Sophia has already noticed she and her aunt have the same hair. Really good that Leland accepted the promotion and Randy will move into Captain position. The dynamics with Leland will not be too different since he is staying in the homicide division. And Natalie and Monk celebrating his recovery by acting like newlyweds just proves how much love they have for each other. |
KittyKat06 chapter 20 . 12/3/2021 "You are not a defective detective and you are not a muss. You are smart and brave and kind. You are the sweetest friend, the best father, and you are mine." Go ahead and make me cry, why don't you? I LOVED that. Defective detective and muss were the nicknames that over the course of the series hurt Monk the most and I loved how Natalie brought them back here, but in a good way. Telling Monk he is so much more than what people might have thought about him once upon a time. Same thing with Leland telling him he was brave and not to let anyone ever tell him different. I just loved both of those moments so much. I was so proud of Natalie for sending TK back to Leland where she belonged and it says so much about the friendship all four of them have that when Monk woke up (YAY!) the very first thing he thought of when he remembered what happened in the alley was Leland and wondering if he was alright. If only he knew just how grumpy and irritated Leland was that he couldn't see Monk. Yeah, TK, cantankerous is the right word, and LOL that she said it more than once (out loud in front of Leland, even) that the doctors were letting him go home only because they were so irritated by him. Hee! That sounds about right, for sure. Leland and Monk both make horrible patients in different ways :D. I really liked how you wrote the scene where Leland/TK came to see Monk upon Leland's release, and how almost standoffish he was at first and ready to get out of there once he saw it for himself that Monk was alive. Leland's never been the emotional talk-about-his-feelings sort of guy, especially about Monk or in front of Monk, and that made their little back-and-forth by Monk's bedside so good to read XD. Favorite scene of the chapter for me, I think. And now that Leland's come to terms (by his standards) with his own health and he realized that Monk saved his life in that alley with no concern for his own, I'm thinking that combined with his wife's clear concern for him will make it so that Leland is okay with taking the promotion. Leland said it himself in one of the early chapters how moving up to commander is more of a desk job and he didn't want that. Only now it's clear to me he didn't want that not only because being a detective is what Leland does and he loves it, but he needed to be out in the field to take care of Monk. He took that responsibility seriously. We saw it in canon, we saw it in this story, and he said as much to TK. That's why he's blaming himself for what happened. Monk protected his life when it's supposed to be the other way around. But now that this happened and Monk can take care of himself to the extent he saved Leland's life, that takes some of the pressure - a lot of the pressure - off Leland to always be around in that way and be responsible for Monk's safety. Now he can take the job with the pay raise and less pressure, make his wife happy, and know that Monk is going to be fine and Washington will still be with him in any regard. I hope some of what I said makes sense :). I'm glad to hear that Barlowe survived his shooting so he can be held responsible for the crimes he committed. Leland's impromptu speech to the reporter was FANTASTIC. "If you want to know what it might be like living without a police department like that of San Francisco, I can recommend some places in the world you might want to visit." OOOH :o: I can just see that quote making the front page but it would be totally worth it. |
alex hoodle chapter 20 . 12/3/2021 Beautiful, Beautiful Chapter! Stottlemeyer Stands Out Here. Glad To See My Favorite Bromance Repaired, Leland's Response To Angry Reporter #1 Also Really Good, The Only-Head Scratcher I Guess You Could Say For Me Is T.K. She Tells Leland Adrian Doesn't Blame Him, The Monk's Don't Him For Operation Go Dwayne Johnson In That Ally, But When She & Nat Are Alone She Effectively Does Blame Leland For Said Incident. Great Job! |
idablue04 chapter 20 . 12/2/2021 Glad to hear Adrians voice again. And glad to know that although the career is extremely dangerous, Natalie and TK have accepted who their husbands are. So sweet that Monk's first thought would be that Natalie would be upset with him for getting hurt. Leland I think may still take that promotion. I think Monk risking his life for him may make him slow down a little. And it is not the fault of an entire precinct that Barlowe turned dirty. It was his individual choice. |
KittyKat06 chapter 19 . 12/2/2021 I love the little things like Sharona signing up for an extra shift at work to stay close to Natalie and TK, that shows how much of a family these people (the original crew) are. Randy going back and forth between Leland and Monk's room. Even Dwayne staying all night and Nicole showing up for Natalie. I liked how Nicole shared her experience with Dwayne in Oakland - two bullets to the chest, eek! - and I loved her speech about how just because they know what their husbands do for a living and accept/love them for it doesn't mean they aren't scared. She, Natalie and TK should hang out more and have a little three-woman support group of sorts. Ambrose much be doing so much better if he can stay waiting in a hospital waiting room all night, good for him! And Jack! He's grown on me so much since the second story, which is still very surprising xD. Especially when you contrast Jack Sr. with the Davenports. Julie's always been very intentional in her language and it stuck out to me a lot that Natalie's parents are 'Grandma and Grandpa Davenport' and she's communicating with them via text, versus Jack Sr. being 'Grandpa Jack' and him/Ambrose waiting all night in the waiting room. Also that Molly's mother is the on-call babysitter for Sophia/Timothy. (I also loved how Sharona called Monk 'boss' when she was talking to him to wake up. Falling back into their old dynamic. That just stuck out to me as super-sweet and worthy of a mention :D) Ha, of course Leland would be grumpy and giving the doctors a hard time and wanting to get out of there. Poor, poor TK. LOL. |
alex hoodle chapter 19 . 12/1/2021 Good Chapter, But Natalie Does Have Faith, She May Not Be-As Devout As She Should But She Has Faith, More Than Monk To Be Honest. Good Job Though |
idablue04 chapter 19 . 12/1/2021 This is so heartbreaking. I want Monk to hurry up and wake up too. I thought sure he would be awake by early morning. And poor Sophia missing her parents. So good to see everyone gathered together, and Nicole being the shoulder Natalie needs by going through a similar experience with Dewayne. Hoping Monk awakes soon and his CT scan is clear. So strange not hearing his voice in these last couple of chapters. |
