Piggot didn't really threaten Sophia, or break any laws for that matter.
The entire conversation was inadmissible in court, because they already had enough evidence to not require Sophia's confession.

The confession was Sophia's chance to show cooperation, and "asking for a Lawyer" told Piggot that wasn't likely.
Retracting leniency is not a threat, but it can seem that way if don't realize you were being shown leniency.

Secondly, I am really liking this story.
Always thought the history of the Hebert and Barnes families should have had more of an effect on Canon!

What you have the Director doing in this chapter, threatening retaliation against Sophia for demanding a lawyer, is a federal felony in the USA, punishable by ten years in prison. Armsmaster and Miss Militia would be in prison along with her, since their complicity would make them felons too.

As much of a stickler as Piggot is for following the rules, I find it highly unlikely she’d make a mistake like that, especially since anything Sophia said after the demand for a lawyer and accompanying threat was made would be inadmissible in court, and anything resulting from an investigation based on it would also be inadmissible.

Being thrown to the wolves is bad, but Emma is about to be thrown to the nuns - she’d probably prefer the wolves!

This is a version of a Fanfiction, that realistically portraits what many of us would do, if this was not some fantasy/scifi/made-up Universe, but real. I mean real, like our Real Life. I think, I'd react similar to the parents in this story, if my daughter were abused like this. So thank you for that. I really appreciate it

especially the police after the locker incident even if nobody claimed to have seen anything they could have still got warrants for taylors school record and then everything would have come to light

I would, however, like to point out that, as Sophia is underage, having her in the room with Armsie, Piggott and M&M but with no parent or representative? Complete ruins ANY case they have against her and probably screws all of their careers. Nothing she gives them is viable as evidence against herself or anyone else.
The PRT very likely has lots of leeway, but they're not above the law.

Nah! This story can't be the result of a Simurgh plot. It benefits us readers too much.

Well, unless she is trying to go for a positive reinforcement plot to get us all to praise her by providing us with a quality story then it might just be working.

Seriously, this is one of the better short stories I have read on this site in a while. Please keep up the excellent work. I am sure that I am not the only one who will be looking forward to seeing where you take this story.
