I just had the sudden feeling that this fic has really focused a lot on 'cruel callous' Tanya, and not given a lot of space for 'person who cares deeply about her friends' Tanya. And I just couldn't get it out of my head how I wanted her to respond to what Azula did.

So uhh, I wrote a small fic about it? I hope that's okay! xD

This the good stuff

Well well well. Tanya's finally done it ! Let's hope she'll now go rogue. Or go do some good old trade empire building, just to rub it into the face of our favorite psychopath how good she is when not constrained by absurd superiors and bureaucracy.
And then the colonies where her investments are get fired by Ozai when burning all the fields and then, Zuko, obviously out to get her, guve back the colonies to the Earth kingdom. Truly state interference in business is a curse.

It's a good story, but Tanya's constant losses feel a bit forced (especially since TWICE she has survived only due to her opponents' mercy), and her having a short temper and gloating in victory is absolutely out of character.
Tanya becoming the villain was set up pretty well in the first book, but I feel her failure should have been at least partially the result of Azula's meddling.

Yeah, I'm immediately dropping this garbage. Not only have you completely butchered Tanya's character, you've also recycled the novel's plot and straight up brought Anson and Mary Sue back, and I hated that little shit. Tanya doesn't bloodthirstily smile every time she talks, she only does that unintentionally because she's HOPPED UP ON ADRENALINE MAGIC DRUGS, which don't exist in ATLA. In every other situation, she behaves in a cold or dismissive manner when discussing or performing warfare, and you'd know this if you watched her casual deployments in the war, when the opponent was weak enough to not require her to drug herself.

I'm not interested in seeing her become Devil of the Rhine 2.0 even when she isn't drugged, laughing and smiling maniacally because apparently that's just her personality now, or watching her get screwed over by Mary Sue the Second because the author was too lazy to come up with an original villain.

Tanya in (ATLA): Shit talks, falls for cartoonishly silly traps, gets ducked by anyone and everyone, losses every single fight against the protagonist by a hairs margin.

IF… Tanya Von degurechaff was in (ATLA): “Enemy troop spotted 5 km ahead. Taking aim. Firing in 3… 2… 1. BOOMMM!. Enemy troop eliminated. Avatar has been critically injured. Avatar has been captured. ALL HAIL THE FIRE LORD!”

Sooooo Glad this Fic wasn't abandoned! I was about to read it just to discover it has been updated. This has made my week.
