It's not really an AU because the Tarnished could be either gender by default

I find it hypocritical of the Hunter to call grafting out for being Artificial when he uses Blood Echoes himself, You know, the blood memories(?) of the creatures he's slain imbued/attached to his being to make himself stronger? Or what about Caryll Runes? artificial methods of enhancement. Heck, Grafting on the scale seen is hella risky and shows a lot of medical knowledge and skill, if morally bankrupt in practice. Though, some would say it's no less cruel then killing creatures and people for their blood.

Heck, he complains about Patches but proceeds to act like Patches with the Tarnished by actually stealing the Tarnished's Medallion, which he didn't need to do for any reason. Sure, the Tarnished was acting like an arse but the Hunter clearly didn't have any need to do what he did. He did not need to act like the thief the Tarnished Claimed he was but decided to, choosing to fall for the Pygmalion effect.

Also, I sincerely hope you aren't going to treat the Tarnished like a punching bag 'Has it coming' victim to shananigans like this the entire time.
