Having read all stories of yours on here I have to say the evolution of your writing is impressive. The contrast between this and for example Stepping Back is astounding. Stepping Back is one of the better Harry Potter fanfics out there but compared to this or your other newer stories it's almost bad. Truly a pleasure to experience your evolution and your stories!

I liked this one for a couple of reasons. One of which is that it significantly diverges from the cannon timeline. Another is that the main supporting characters are not Hermione and Ron.

The introduction and fleshing out of different races was a breath of fresh air.

Definitely one of the better HP fanfics I've read. I do think that getting around to the actual war with Voldemort was the weakest part of the story, and certain deaths were kind of rushed by with little to no fanfare, but I never once considered stopping. Actually read the whole thing in one day if that says anything.

Thank you for bringing in Eleanor Sr and her story-that-is-more-than-a-story of Harry Evans that we know so well. It's a lovely passage.

I always find your story premises to be unique and well written but I cant stand how short sighted Harry is. He refuses to change or learn anything that he doesnt imeadiatly see the use of. He is untrusting with no reason to be he had a happy childhood given his circumstances and has never been personally betrayed by anyone he can remember trusting. It often feels like his character is aware of his own plot protection but even that doesnt really make sense because hes some how even more unaware than he was in cannon. Being unaware of his own reputation to the degree you describe in this chapter doesnt make him confident and secure in his ability it makes him seem like a moronic sociopath. Being unaware isnt the same as not caring if he didnt have the plot protection you provided him he would face serious consequences for his gap in knowledge. He doesnt care if he adds any enemies for some reason that isnt explained beyond hes an arrogant little shit, it’s extremely out of the rest of his characterization to not be aware that understanding who wants to harm you is pretty useful information when you’re looking to avoid being hurt. Its to the point i dont even have to read the harry sections because i know whats going to happen. Harry will either be presented with a pretty obviously out of the ordinary problem that could be solved quickly if he ever gave a single shit about anything enough to think about it for a moment or it is an emotionaless diatribe about how he doesnt care about repurcussions or consequences because the size of his balls i guess? Hes yet to have actually been challenged by anyone with a plan. Its like he thinks hes the center of the universe and nothing anybody ever does could possibly effect him. Its like he is dumbledor’s most annoying fannon interpretation come to life.
