I might be being bias here because we have a very similar writing style, but goddamn, this deserves more love. I love dark, realistic stories like this one! It's not unnecessarily edgy and still captures the sobering reality.

you tied the end up nicely some minor inconstancies with canon characters and the world but they are ignorable
