These two statements appear to be at odds with each other since Azkaban apparently also houses the less deranged as well. Either that of someone can be amongst the ‘most deranged’ and still get less than a less than ten year sentence and have the head of the DMLE planning to release you on parol.
If they really are the most deranged then Fudge’s position to leave them there to die is more understandable. It is still delporable given his justification that their deaths will be forgotten by the next news cycle. But it is at least better than just releasing them.

To date, Harry Crow is by far my favorite and most re-read fanfic. Will I pick on vocabulary choices in places, yup. I hope Kingussie is an happy retirement area ... just don't give your former students your address. Should the Honey Dew list be excessive there are dragon pens that need tending. Perhaps a future story could have Mrs. Crow take in a lost or run-a-way Harry.

I have read Unintended Consequences and look forward to seeing how this turns out.
