okay i like to think ive. Somewhat collected my thoughts but still the most major one is: holy SHIT DUDE. Rest assured i am STILL losing my goddamn MIND! ARBEE! TISS WINS HOLY SHIT? you say i predicted what you were doing in february but rest assured the roller coaster of emotions and tensions and everything with every kid prevented me from actually believing this would happen vdhvbhfdvHVJFBH.. alsowhat the hell you knew in FEBRUARY? man . from the bottom of my heart though, thank you so much for writing tiss and writing her so well :heart: i dunno man the minute i thought of her concept i knew without a doubt that i had to send her to you and im glad you love her and had as much of a blast writing her as i do reading her :heart: and now you get to torment me forever with it YAYYY ! WHOOHOOO! SUFFERING AND TRAUMA :fire: :fire: :fire: this was genuinely such an awesome finale so lets get into it :D

uhh. fucking excellent chapter title. bshvjdbvfd. nuff said. fiery finale for an ocean-centric victor is awesome as hell.. that light sure is burning O-O love this little intro over view of the remaining kids its so :withered: i think its so so neat how most of this chapter focuses on the conflict between the three non-victorious kids - especially chase and tina - but ill talk more about that in a bit. Chase and Tina, the confrontation that's been building for so many chapters until now... Valentina's breakdown here is absolutely fascinating. She's been such a powerhouse up until now, and here she is terrified of a fifteen year old girl-and rightfully so. Chase is literally running on anger and she brought the fire with her... The fire is such an awesome metaphor for Tina's character too, it inherently means she's out of control, both in the kitchen or in the arena. ...Chase talking to the ghosts.. ;-; it's humorous, but also that's what she's running on now-vengeance for dead people. The way she sees Tiss through the fire ..

We're seeing Tiss mostly through everyone else's pov's here in this chap because there's just. there's not much going on in her head right now, shes just bulldozing through everything ... head in hands...

Love the detail about All the ghosts coming out at the finale.. like mann of course they are :sob: Bastet's last pov here.. dude this was so so tragic. They thought they'd be able to find Jem again so she can find Ave but we know Jem's gone... The reveal that Bas was looking at Jem's ghost and not Jem himself was absolutely fucking bonkers dude.. And when Bas finally does encounter Ave's ghost again... mann. It's just so wrong ;-; This is such a human moment for them.. so it makes it feel that much more inhuman when Tiss strikes out of nowhere, and so goddamn suddenly.

LIKE. THE WAY TISS DIDNT EVEN HESITATE OR CRY OR LISTEN TO BAS'S FINAL WORDS. SHE DIDN'T EVEN LINGER FOR A SECOND, ITS SO COLD MANN.. ;-; The rest of the tributes aren't even people to Tiss anymore, and honestly, neither is she ;-; she's like a ghost herself. Aside from being able to kill people.

Valentina baiting Chase is so funny bvjdfbh.. This argument though.. Tina claiming Fleur wasn't her fault, and Chase arguing that no, it is, you were there and you helped, you did nothing to stop it... Fucking nail in the coffin for Tina's mental. Tina being unable to escape the things she did is so excellent. Just like she's unable to escape her losing streak :sob: the way Tina flips to being just Afraid of chase. So fucking chilling. and Chase, being GLAD that tina's so afraid.. so fucked up. sooo fucked up. Another point of no return.. And the way. The way Chase finally does it, beating Tina back into the fire with her bat and rOASTING HER ALIVE.. LIKE HUMAN BARBECUE.. LIKE WHAT SHE AND AESCELIN DID TO FLEUR.. DUDE UR SO SO SICK FOR THIS. YOU ROASTED HER.. not only does tina have to give up barbecue, she IS the barbecue :sob: The last line of Tina's pov. insane and sick.

And now Tiss is coming for Chase... head in hands... i hate it hereeee. Killing a girl the same age as her sisters. her sisters who hate her for leaving them like their parents did and being so Selfish... hhh..

Chase's anger fading immediately after Valentina is dead and her wanting it back... mann that's vengeance for you. "But Chase Holloway knew better than anyone that home wasn't a place - it was people." yeah i can see why jay had to take a fucking walk. "She'd never been able to hold on to those." THEYRE ALL GONE NOW.. NO ONE BUT HER AND SOMEONE WHO WONT SAVE HER... Mann chase doesn't even know who tiss is. :withered: I dunno if it's worse to be killed by a stranger or someone you know. The way Tiss just appears as an unknown unfeeling leviathan in Chase's eyes is insane.. girl is bleeding the fuck out and she doesn't flinch mannnn.. It’s so sad that Bastet is searching for Aveline’s ghost. I just realised, she’s kinda like a combo between Alessio (their crush died in their arms and now they see them as a ghost) and Tremor (toxic D2 who is responsible for basically all the Careers’ problems) and Tremor from IIDY. I don’t know if I should be enjoying their Ghost!Ave arc or whether I should start yelling BASTET SUCKS! for the meme.

If I remember correctly, Bastet was the one who started flirting with Tiss to make Ave jealous. How does that make Tiss a wannabe, Bastet? IT WAS LITERALLY YOUR IDEA!

Ugh, Bastet is so frustrating. I’m trying not to hate on them because I can see why she is the way that she is. They’ve been through a LOT. But also, the sheer levels of delulu in her POVs need to be called out.

Oooh, this fight is so tense.

The scene where Bas falls down the stairs is so funny to me because they go from just about to kill Tisiphone to falling down the stairs like a loser just because Tiss said three words and made some sadgirl faces. Tiss must be so confused by Bas’ behaviour LOL. The viewers must also be so confused.

Oh, wait! Those are AVELINE’S last words. That makes a bit more sense. But also, if I’d been in Bastet’s position, I probably would’ve killed Tiss right there because it’d be poetic, y’know, both Ave and Tiss having the same last words. I guess that’s just my evil author tendencies. I once wrote a games where both the last place tribute and the victor’s last words were “Fuck the Capitol.”

The fact that Bas can’t even bring herself to go up the stairs and kill Tiss… What’s Tiss gonna do, Bas? Repeat the magic ‘Bas, Bas go away!’ words at you?

How does Bas think they’ve won this love triangle? She literally just fell down the stairs because Tiss said the magic ‘Bas, Bas go away!’ words. That is NOT what winning the love triangle looks like. That is such a TREMOR SUCKS! moment! It’s official. BASTET SUCKS!

This chapter would be, like, 37 times better if Vince had been there to witness all of Bastet’s delulu behaviour and then they had a POV to snark about it. Scratch that. Vince AND Miss Tina. With popcorn. Make it happen.

It is pretty cool how Wisdom’s chemicals got passed from Wisdom to Chevre to Tomo to Jem to be used at this point. I feel like it represents the Slovenia Squad and also the fact that Tomo Metellus kept making terrible decisions.

RIP Vince. Well, there goes my victor pick. I suppose if they had to go out, it would be covered in alcohol and having a fist fight with Jem as they both burned to death. I’m actually really sad they’re dying. It was so satisfying watching Vince grow from someone I didn’t particularly care about to one of my favourite tributes in the games. I think they might even be my second favourite tribute after Aescelin. They had such a good arc and I really had faith that they would’ve won this thing. Like, if you’d told me back in February 2023 that I would be writing ‘Fuck you, Tomo Metellus’ above my eulogy for Vince, who was my victor pick, I would never have believed you. But here we are. Farewell Invincible. I was conVINCED you would win for a while there. Hehehe Vince pun *breaks down in tears*

RIP Jem. Fifth Place Icon! I can’t believe barbecue gorl outlasted THE ENTIRE SLOVENIA SQUAD. This is so surreal. I’m a little annoyed that Jem was so dedicated to denying Vince their rightful title of Fifth Place Icon (c’mon Jem, if you’re gonna deny them the victory, at least let them be Fifth Place Icon), but I also like that the 9M successor to Robin also became the Fifth Place Icon. That feels appropriate. As the Grand Emperor of Slovenia, Jem left a massive mark on the games - his Carpe Diem catchphrase is why I gave the Slovenia Squad its name, because Carpe Diem is the name of a Slovenian Eurovision Entry. He was a fun character to have around. I don’t think I like I’m as much as I initially did, but that’s not because I didn’t enjoy his arc, it’s because I joined Team Vince and never looked back. Also, the way Jem killed Vince was very GIANT WHALE!

Dammit, Bas, if you’d killed Tiss this chapter, Vince would’ve been the Fifth Place Icon. Why couldn’t you be bothered to go up the fricking stairs? Bastet Avarne, YOU HAD ONE JOB!

Tiss’ POV is so powerful. I love all the light imagery, and how short and simple the sentences describing her picking herself up are. I have a feeling that Bas is really gonna regret not going up the stairs.

Okay, finale time! This is so exciting. I am so honoured that my daughter has made the finale, even though, realistically, I think she’s probably gonna come fourth. I’ll do some pros and cons for each tribute in District order. (Bear in mind I am very biased towards Miss Tina)

Bastet:
Pros: She is the cause of basically every problem in these games not caused by a Seven.
Cons: She is the cause of basically every problem in these games not caused by a Seven.
They’re giving Tremor. And you do not wanna be giving Tremor in the finale.

Tiss:
Pros: She’s had one heck of an arc.
She won the love triangle by getting the flip out of the love triangle.
Vince approved.
Cons: That leg injury is gonna make it tougher for her.
She feels like the obvious choice for victor. A little too obvious.

Chase:
Pros: She’s got that scrappy underdog vibe.
The power of REVENGE!
Cons: She hasn’t killed anyone yet, or really had much of an influence on the games compared to her competitors. Could it be too little, too late?
The power of GIANT WHALE! The GIANT WHALE has already claimed one victim.

Miss Tina
Pros: Miss Tina is Brat.
She’s the most successful District 7 villain since Treech himself.
The fake love letter she wrote really exacerbated the love triangle, making Miss Tina the mastermind behind the Careers being so cursed.
I know I’m biased, but I think her post victory arc would be the most exciting to see because she can’t barbecue anymore. WHAT’S SHE GONNA DO? I wanna find out.
Alexa, Play Home;Run by Seventeen
Cons: Chase is pretty much contractually obliged to kill her at this point, right?
Treech came third, LOL.

As for final two scenarios, here are a few that I thought could be interesting, since my final two picks just died this chapter and I need new ones.

Tiss Vs Bas: Career showdown. It’s personal!

Chase Vs Miss Tina: There’s been conflict between them all games so this is also personal.

Tiss Vs Chase: They’re probably the two most likeable tributes in the finale, so it would be a neat setup to have them each kill their own final boss and then battle it out.

Bas Vs Miss Tina: This one’s a bit random but I think it could really work. Both Bas and Miss Tina have chips on their shoulders because they were so frequently considered the second best before the games. They’re both so desperate to win. So it would be so compelling to create a scenario where one of them wins and the other is forced to come second. Also, Miss Tina was the one who wrote that letter to drive a wedge between Ave and Bas. If there’s any tribute who manipulated Bastet into choosing Tiss over Ave, it’s not Tiss. It’s MISS TINA. This could get PERSONAL.

Okay, when it comes to predictions, I predict a Tiss Vs Chase final two with Tiss winning but I’m hoping for a Bas Vs Miss Tina final two with Miss Tina winning.

JEM AND VINCE CASUALTIES GRRRAHGUH ;-; u truly shocked me with that one and by shocked i mean absolutely devastated. like i had a feeling the acid would come back into play in a huge manner but mAN.. RIP Mendi. I love how her final POV fit with the theme of this chapter. Her backstory and her interactions with her allies were very interesting but she didn’t have much to do after all her allies died. I kinda called that she’d be the next to die, and even the exact circumstances of her death - dying quietly of an infection without ever interacting with another tribute.

That scene where Bastet is fighting Jem and Tomo just doesn’t know what to do is so tense!

RIP Tomo. I honestly had no idea what you were planning for him. I thought you were gonna have him use Wisdom’s chemicals to blow Bastet up, but Tomo just refusing to play the games anymore is a really cool choice for his character. I really loved Tomo and he was my favourite character for a long time but I was mentally prepared for him to go out here. I just couldn’t see a scenario where he clawed his way to victory. So I’m glad Tomo wasn’t corrupted by the games and dies without any blood on his hands. I guess that was a small victory for him.

I find it kinda funny that the two tributes who I predicted would be the next to die were the next to die, in the exact order I predicted them to die.

Also, I guess Wisdom’s chemicals and stuff is just never gonna be used now. Unless Miss Tina somehow gets her hands on it. She totally should. She would be LETHAL!

Jem is gonna be so destroyed now. He’s had to watch all the other members of the Slovenia Squad die.
