Yes, Umbridge needs to have someone take her aside and tell her bluntly that her attempts to be subtle aren't working and she might as well have Sorted Gryffindor for all that. Narcissa is probably the best one to do it (so many touching conversations happen in the ladies', right?). She probably doesn't want much to do with Umbridge, but she's a fellow Slytherin, noblesse oblige, etc.

Thanks for the update-glad to see you back! I always thought Albus enabled the Marauders because he felt a subconscious antipathy to Snape as a poor, dark-haired Slytherin half-blood and rather enjoyed seeing him squashed.

No trial. No proof. Just the word of the MOB. I can see it with Hermione, with her near worship of authority figures, but Lily?

Well...it seems to me that if the three take Umbridge aside, and show her that she's not really inferior, that she could be a powerful ally. She's another one that's been corrupted by the Hogwarts system as well. Yes, we don't like her yada yada. But don't discard her out of spite.

So, why was Snape hung out to dry by his fellow Slytherins till Lily dumped him? Was his crime of being with her so great that he was persona non grata in his own House? Was he an Undesirable all that time?
