Nice to see Shika handling everything, even if his role is different than in canon. And kakashi being so involved in Naruto's life, rather than running from the emotions. I always wondered just how close Kakashi and Jiraiya had been or if their interactions were exclusively to Minato's presence.

Playing the sad princess card would certainly be one way to make sure she didn't make dad angry. Only wanting to comfort his hurting little girl. And Kakashi is certainly sneaky. But it's a good thing for all involved this time.

Poor Sai. First Naruto has to contend with the info on his parents. Now he has to deal with helping Sai figure himself out.

Yeah, it's just hard to accept that Lee and Gai are COMPLETELY unrelated. I'm glad you found a way to explain Kakashi and Gai's relationship so it made sense. To many just ignore it, afraid to touch it. Of course, when it comes out that Naruto and Shikamaru are a couple, that may turn an unwanted spotlight back on Gai and Kakashi. Especially, people like Sakura and Ino.

I knew there was another reason Shika was pushing Ino to be the one to break things off.
